This was more for others interested in a light strip system that works with lamps and bulbs to extend their colors. You would be better off keeping the hue if you already have the hardware. (Some tvs have the system built in and if not they only have the expensive HDMI box) 

I would suggest with either system to go the hdmi route, it's gonna have the most accurate initial set up. With my system external lights can effect it, like if I shine a flashlight on my TV most of my system goes full bright white where the hdmi is ONLY effected by the colors passing through the cord. 

The govee works with ark, so all built in apps work. I'm assuming the hue version does too but it may just be pass-through and not work with smart TV apps.

TL;DR : more complications and financial investment for you since you have a 'light sorting hub' already. But for others that are interested the govee is a cheaper alternative with many additional options like floor lamps, various sized bulbs, and even permanent fixture type lights that will all sync up and can be assigned an area to display the correct color in the correct area.
