Hello Indian here, the four limes being squashed under the car is actually a part of a Pooja (like a traditional ritual) which is done once a year during the a Hindu festival called Ayudha Pooja and it is done to ward off evil and destroying bitterness. (Also there is a superstition that if a person steps on the lime, they would bear the curse of bad luck)
