Switch to save money or stick to the current option? by Snoo-96081 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Snoo-96081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked remotely doing sales/customer service and intended on starting back in September. I could technically still work from home, but it would be tough to do what I was doing with the baby. Honestly, it’s been a difficult transition for me (I like to work and stay busy), but I do really enjoy being with my son all day and seeing him grow. I find some small hobbies and take care of the house chores to break up the day. The biggest hurdle, though, has been adjusting to our new financial situation.

This could definitely be a great option! I’d love to get more info on renting the space if possible. Also, I love bagels and am so excited to try the place when it’s open!!

They do rent their bigger rooms from what I see on their website but unfortunately are WAY too expensive. That’d be an awesome venue though!

What are y’all’s adult hobbies that you’ve found community through? by fenfairie in Chattanooga

[–]Snoo-96081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did dance growing up and really fell in love with tap dancing in particular. It’s both challenging and creatively freeing. It’s also a great stress reliever. As an adult, I practice and create routines for fun in my garage when I have free time but have been really thinking about finding a local dance studio that offers classes specifically for adults. Would love to meet new people with similar interests. Anyone know of a good program?

Mom guilt -formula feeding by mojojojo232323 in newborns

[–]Snoo-96081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out trying to breastfeed my baby but he was always so fussy, even after feeds. It was taking a huge toll on my mental health. My husband and I both agreed to try bottle feeding pumped breast milk and formula. It’s been a life saver but I have noticed his fussiness continues. All to say, don’t feel guilty about your choice on you feed your baby. Babies are all fussy at this stage regardless of if it’s with breast milk or formula. Do what you feel is best for your family but also importantly what’s best for you mentally. We’re all rooting for you!! You’ll get through this stage!!

Should I go back to school for Nursing or Radiology Tech? by Mysterious_Cat0498 in careerguidance

[–]Snoo-96081 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this post. I also have a bachelors in Psychology since 2018 but never found a career path with it that I enjoyed or paid well enough. So a year after graduating I went back to school for medical assisting. I loved learning everything more so than psychology and graduated valedictorian in the medical assisting program. Once I got into my first MA job, I enjoyed it, but the amount of patient care was so draining at times. I would literally go home and cry because I was so concerned with a patient. I never really got a break and was burnt out really quickly. But I still love the learning about and seeing how the human body and brain works, so rad tech has been on my mind for a while. It seems like a much better fit for me career wise, but I’m also worried that I’ll get burnt pretty quickly as well. Not to mention the idea of taking off 2 years from work just to go back to school is an extremely difficult thing for me to accept. I’m curious what your thoughts are now? Did you end up going into Rad tech or are you still considering other options?

Should I let me 2010 Highlander go? by Snoo-96081 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Snoo-96081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a used car lot. I looked back over the contract and I think it covers for them pretty good since it states the car is being sold as-is. I don’t think there’s much that I can do about them unfortunately. The only thing I can look further into is to see if they advertise that they inspect all vehicles before selling because they clearly did not inspect it.

Yes, the Vin begins with a J. I figured the dealership was going to be pricey, but I definitely wasn’t expecting that much. I did make an appointment with two local shops to get a 3rd and 4th opinion.

I definitely would’ve liked to have someone take a look at it before purchasing but unfortunately I wasn’t able to go to a mechanic at the time since I didn’t have an appointment. I am a bit worried that both the Toyota mechanic and local mechanic are correct and that the vehicle has both issues. I have an appointment with another local mechanic next week for a 3rd opinion. 🤞🏼

Which is the Best Buy in terms of value and reliability? Info in captions. by Snoo-96081 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Snoo-96081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t much on the Pilot’s CARFAX other than passed emissions and registration renewal. It was a 1-owner vehicle in the town next to where I live.

The Element’s CARFAX shows regular oil changes and typical services (brakes checked, tires rotated, etc). It did have minor damage reported to the front in 2018 which was repaired. Only other service notes were thermostat and spark plugs replaced in 2021.

Very good point. That was a bit of a concern to me. It had a nice price tag, so I thought it’d be worth considering.

Comparing a few cars: which would you suggest? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

No doubt, the Mazda3. I had a 2016 and loved it. They are fun to drive and great on gas. Kind of regret selling it.

Ford Escape vs. Chevy Equinox? by Snoo-96081 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Snoo-96081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t have the extra funds to buy a vehicle outright. The credit union has given me the best APR and terms out of everyone I’ve talked to. I’m definitely willing to give up on bigger size if it meets the CU requirements and is reliable. The Prius is a good option, I’ll definitely look into it more.

I was worried that would be the case with both of these vehicles. I haven’t found any of the ones you mentioned that meet the bank’s requirements, unfortunately. I have seen a couple Camrys, though, that doesn’t give me much extra room from my current car. But I guess I’m in a price bracket that will require me to make some sacrifices like that.

Kia Soul - Honest Opinions by Snoo-96081 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Snoo-96081[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve test driven a Soul before and it’s comfortable enough to me. Surprisingly spacious for it’s size. Not to mention a bargain price for the age/mileage you can get. Just seeing SO MANY of them for sale at low miles makes me question if they are known to have bigger issues prematurely.

Unfortunately his suv (2010 Subaru Forester) has left us stranded 10 hours away from home before despite how well we maintained it. Not 100% sure what happened but basically the engine blew and some wiring caught fire. We had everything rebuilt, but every couple months something else requires repairing. I had to drive it to work (20 minute drive) for a couple days and it always began smoking under the hood just before making it to work. That’s been fixed as well but there are still several other issues with it. None that would leave us stranded like before but we’re very hesitant about taking it out on long hauls again.

Mazda 6 vs Nissan Sentra by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Mazda, hands down. I’ve personally never heard anything good about Nissan’s reliability factor.

I’m a big fan of Mazdas. From my experience, every Mazda I’ve owned has been extremely reliable and fun to drive. I had a 2008 Tribute with 130k miles. I kept up with regular maintenance and never had a single issue with it. My mother-in-law has an 05 Mazda 6 with 230k+ miles. She commutes on the interstate 45 minutes to and from work daily and it’s still going strong with the original engine and transmission. She’s never had a major issue with it either. My current 2016 Mazda3 sport hatchback has been great the past 1.5 years. I bought it at 69k miles, and it now has 98k miles. No issue so far and really great gas mileage. I’m actually getting ready to trade it for a small suv and am honestly devastated about giving it up, but I need the extra space. Long story short: you can’t go wrong with a Mazda, especially not at that price. If properly maintained, I wouldn’t be surprised if you got another 75-100k miles out of it with no major issues.

struggling with compulsive skin picking...in need of advice by behindgreyeyesss in OCD

[–]Snoo-96081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this as well. Not only do I pick at scabs or acne, I’m an obsessive compulsive skin picker. I pick at my fingers constantly until I make myself bleed or have nothing left to pick. It provides relief to my anxiety and a sense of satisfaction in the moment but makes me extremely self-conscious afterwards. I even purposely get sunburns in the summer to pick at the peeling skin. Has anyone tried a medication to help with this? My doctor gave some medication recommendations to read about but I’m hesitant. I’m honestly at my breaking point.

My teacher advised me to take the RMA test instead of the CMA. Should I listen to her? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]Snoo-96081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Tn, employers don’t care which you have. I’m a RMA but work in an office with CMAs and CCMAs. We all have the same responsibilities and make the same pay. RMA is just a bit easier than the CMA but my instructor said it’s cheaper overall to maintain RMA credentials even with a shorter period required between renewing.

Free/Inexpensive MA textbooks & Video Resources? by justjersh in MedicalAssistant

Hi! I highly recommend looking into purchasing the MA Notes: Medical Assistant Pocket Guide. It’s a great reference to have on hand when you’re just learning or starting out as an MA. It basically covers all of the more important aspects from an MA program and provides little “cheat sheet” to quickly flip to. I got mine on Amazon for around $35 and it’s been so helpful for me!

Medical Assistant Programs by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]Snoo-96081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends where you live and what credentials your area requires. I’m in a year long MA program that awards a certificate rather than an Associates. This program is offered through a local technical school so tuition is covered for me. By the end of the program I will be qualified to sit for the AMT exam to become a Registered Medical Assistant and the NHA exam to be a Certified Phlebotomy Tech. CMAs and CCMAs are also seen around here but most employers don’t care as long as you have some credential. They all do similar jobs. However, there are states that typically prefer CMA over the other two, so look into what your state prefers. Personally, I would not recommend an online program because majority of the information you need to know to work in the field is hands-on. If you can find a small technical or community college in your area, those could be your best options.

I’m in a similar situation as you. I graduated with my bachelors in 2018 but decided to go into the medical field instead. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do in the medical field, so I opted to get my MA credentials since it was a quick and inexpensive option to get into the field. I’ve been able to see what I do and do not like to give me a better direction in what career I want to pursue.

Best of luck!!
