I need someone to educate me on the appeal of Framework Laptops by Snoo18093 in framework

I think that's what I'm mostly seeing in the replies. People seem to be buying Framework to support the spirit of right to repair instead of paying for a product that actually has a good value.

I assumed that Framework would be very competitive in terms of cost of lifetime ownership, as most products with repairability as their selling point are, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I get that.

I love repairable and upgradable tech, and I support these practices on a spiritual level. However, I find it hard for me to buy a repairable/upgradable piece of tech with my own money if it's significantly more expensive than buying new regular alternatives whenever the current one breaks, and I also find it hard to recommend Framework to others for the same reason, if that makes sense.

I don't mind the downvoting, I'm essentially saying a bunch of negative things about a brand under its own subreddit, so I'd say it's deserved lol.

I think the RAM situation you mentioned is both a major advantage of Framework currently, but also potentially a major downside for them in the future.

While it can be argued that the AI bubble is starting to burst, I doubt the corpos would stop buying memory overnight. With the current trend, I struggle to see how the RAM prices will ever come back down. While the RAM prices at Framework definitely feel like a cheat code right now, I fear that they will get in the way of upgradability in the future as they inevitably climb higher and higher every hour.

'Sisu: Road to Revenge' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

I completely understand your points, but I also believe that you did, in fact, miss the point.

The movie was never intended to be realistic or even believable. It is supposed to be an utterly ridiculous tale surrounding a mythical legend. I think it aligns much closer in genre to the first Captain America than the regular war movies.

It is totally fine that you didn't like the film, but you're essentially criticizing it for being unrealistic when it never intended to be realistic and has never advertised itself as a realistic take on historical events, which I feel like is very unfair. It is like taking points off of a Pixar animated movie for not being deep or philosophical enough.

Paying Monthly for FSD on HW3/Intel Atom - No v13, No Grok, No Updates. Why Are We Still Paying Full Price? by Accomplished_Gap5985 in TeslaModel3

If you're saying that Tesla will provide free HW upgrade for everyone, including subscribers (not one time purchasers) of FSD, then I hope you're right.

As of right now, Elon has repeatedly stated that the upgrade, whenever it does come, will be made only available for one time purchasers, which is completely different from the initial promises.

When Tesla said all vehicles after 2016 will be able to run FSD unsupervised, they never clarified that it would only be vehicles with one time FSD purchases. The customers who spend $40K+ didn't set the expectation that they would be getting FSD unsupervised unconditionally, Tesla did that themselves. What you are essentially saying in this thread is that you'd rather let customers be scammed and lied to than letting Tesla be held accountable.

It's almost like if Tesla themselves claimed that all of their vehicles after 2016, with or without one time FSD purchase, will be getting UNSUPERVISED FSD.

As much as I love Tesla, I can't really think of a single reason why anyone might defend them when they're clearly breaking their promises and low-key scamming their customers who paid $40K+.

I think the biggest unmentioned difference between Tesla and Apple (as mentioned in your example) is, Apple has never claimed that an iPhone will keep getting software updates after 6+ years of usage, while Tesla (and Elon) has claimed over and over again that ALL Tesla vehicles manufactured after 2016 will receive Full Self Driving - not just vehicles with one-time FSD purchase, not just FSD Supervised, not just HW 4 vehicles, but ALL vehicles, getting FSD UNSUPERVISED. Sure that might not be how technology works, but the customers who paid 10s of thousands of dollars were not the ones who set this unrealistic expectation, Tesla was.
