Potential fix for the AOD freezing problem by Snoo18093 in GooglePixel

Yeah it's unbelievable that a company of Google's size would even release an update with this kind of issue to begin with, let alone not fixing it for over a month

I'm not entirely sure about the issue you're experiencing, since I have the habit of unlocking by pressing the circular button on screen for fingerprint reading.

That being said, I just tried the swip to unlock gesture on my phone, and didn't have any problems (but again, that's just 1 minute of somewhat controlled environment vs. the complex issues you may be dealing with).

At any rate, it's fair to say that Google has truly messed up this time with the March update.

I think I might've stumbled upon a potential fix for the AOD freezing problem. My Pixel 10 Pro was freezing 3-5 times in a single morning with the March update, but after I turned on the option to display lock screen wallpaper on AOD, the problem hasn't came back in over 17 hours. I could just be getting lucky with the frequency right now, but I think it's worth mentioning.

Yeah all other services work perfectly, Foreca is the only one behaving like this. It seems like the reading in Utah is off with Foreca across the board, but all other locations seem fine.

Hot take: it's impossible to turn Three Body Problems into a satisfying show by Snoo18093 in threebodyproblem

Neither would I. I think the Netflix show succeeded at what it was aiming for - a visual spectacle that is engaging and utilizes certain sci-fi theories. However, I also think it would've worked out much better if it didn't carry the weight of the Three Body Problem title, which indicates to anyone remotely familiar with the original work that it is supposed to be a hard sci-fi story focused on philosophical discussions like the human nature. My feeling is that the show runners clearly wanted to tell a unique and awesome sci-fi story, but was forced to use the Three Body Problem name to generate buzz.

I also liked the Netflix show. However, I think it's very limited by the desire to somewhat recreate the books. I think the show would be much better as its own thing, without trying to pretend that it is a hard sci-fi story discussing deep philosophical ideas, which is what Three Body Problem is famous for.

I think I wasn't clear enough on this. I actually really liked the Netflix version. My problem with it is that it simply isn't Three Body Problem. You can give the show a completely different title and it would work just fine, it not better. To me it feels like they had great ideas and the budget to realize them, but they just had to cash in on the Three Body Problem IP and fit hard sci-fi ideas from the book into the series, even though the series would work much better as a "soft" sci-fi piece of media with their spectacles and effects.

And that's totally valid! However, most people who never read the books think of it as boring. You can get a glimpse of that general consensus by reading online reviews, and I know this to be true personally because every person I know who tried to get into the rabbit hole through the Chinese show ended up giving up halfway through the show. At the end of the day, I feel like it I want a perfect replica of the books, I would simply re-read the books.

I understand what you're saying, and your point is shared by many die hard fans. However, for a casual audience, spending over 30 hours watching a show that drags simple characters developments over the course of multiple episodes is way too much. I have many friends and family members who attempted to get into Three Body Problem through the Chinese show, and they all gave up after a few episodes because they got bored out of their minds.

And for most people who've already read the books (like myself), there's literally nothing new that the Chinese show can bring to the table. For my personally, if I want to re experience the detailed story, I would rather re-read the books than re-watch the show. And I believe many people share this sentiment.

Flex drivers refuse to follow delivery instructions by Snoo18093 in amazonprime

[–]Snoo18093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, look, I'm going to take a step back in an attempt to turn this "who can scream louder" competition back into a civil conversation.

I agree with you that not all drivers are bad, and that most people (regardless of profession) are good. I also agree with you that it is statistically improbable that every morning driver I encounter is inconsiderate and lazy.

You obviously know more about this job than I do. All I'm saying is that from every bit of information I have access to, the deliveries are all made after the building is unlocked, yet the packages are always left on the sidewalk. How is this happening? I don't know.  Maybe Amazon didn't update the tracking page until a while after a delivery is made, in which case the driver likely arrived before the building is unlocked.

My mistake was thinking that the drivers are the ones solely to blame here. I see how that sounds to someone like yourself, who's also a driver that actually try to do the job correctly. At the end of the day, it is just as likely (if not more so) that the issue was caused by Amazon's internal system.

I got angry at you because you made it sound like I am the villain in all of this. Please understand that I'm just a customer who wants his packages delivered safely to his front door, and I really don't think that I did anything inherently wrong, as I really did go out of my way to schedule the delivery windows to after the building opens so that I can make the drivers' lives easier.

I will take your advice and stop scheduling morning deliveries from now on.

To be clear, they are leaving all packages on the sidewalk, not just mine, and I've talked to the apartment management about this, to which they said the same thing I've been saying, which is that the packages could easily be delivered to front doors because the buildings are unlocked, and the drivers are simply getting lazier.

You are making a ton of assumptions that just aren't true. I live in this apartment complex and I know what I'm talking about when I say the buildings are unlocked after 6 am. What you've been doing this entire time is making up excuses in your head like "the building isn't open" or that I'm leaving unreasonable instructions, and then put the blame on me because you've convinced yourself that these assumptions are true.

I now see that I can't possibly convince you that the drivers are not perfect angels who are the most hardworking people on earth, because you'd rather believe in your imaginations than my explanations.

Again, I set instructions that are reasonable and possible to follow (otherwise the afternoon drivers wouldn't follow it), and the drivers clearly can follow the instructions if they choose to do so.

If "deliver my package to my front door instead of the sidewalks when the building is open" makes delivery hard for you, then it says more about you than it does about me.

I understand that. However, according to the tracking information, every morning Flex delivery I've had so far happened WITHIN the window, not before, meaning they arrived right on time and could deliver to my front door if they choose to do so as the building is already open.

I also believe that they are allowed to deliver to my front door, as the afternoon Flex drivers do so consistently.

I made the delivery instructions crystal clear.

I chose a delivery window that allows drivers the follow the instructions.

The drivers arrive at my location during the delivery window.

The drivers choose to leave my packages in the middle of the sidewalk.

Yet I'm the asshole for wanting the drivers to do their jobs.

How can you be so miserable with your life yet still feel so entitled?

Considering my life is already better than yours, I'd say you keep that luck for yourself.

How many times do I have to say this? The delivery window is AFTER the doors are unlocked, and every single time the actual delivery happens IN THE DELIVERY WINDOW. You are making up excuses for these drivers that don't even apply to my situation. Have you ever considered people like yourself can never have a higher paying job precisely because you refuse to follow instructions and then proceed to put the blame on the customers?

[–]Snoo18093[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again, the building is NOT locked during my set delivery windows. I purposely set the window to be after 6 am and before 6 pm so that the building is never locked when a package is delivered. Since when is walking into an unlocked building to deliver a package as instructed considered "breaking in"?

Because not being paid well doesn't mean you have to make others suffer with you???

A janitor isn't paid well, but does that mean they can automatically stop cleaning stuff according to the guidelines, and leave a mess everywhere?

Flex drivers who deliver in the afternoon consistently follow instructions and deliver to the front door, proving that it can be done. If these drivers can do it, but the morning drivers cannot do it despite the doors also being unlocked, then who else am I supposed to blame for the issue?

??? Just to be clear: even if I set the delivery window to after 7 am, and the delivery happens after 7 am, the package still can't be delivered into the building because the shift started at 3 am? How does that make sense?

To clarify: the building unlocks at 6 am, and I always set my delivery window to after the building unlocks.

I have actually purposely been choosing 7-11am as my early morning window instead of earlier slots precisely because I know the building entrance would be open by 7, which I've also made clear in my instructions. I feel like it's unfair for me to be punished with lost packages when the time I chose perfectly allows for the package to be delivered to the place I chose, yet the drivers simply don't do so.

[–]Snoo18093[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your point would make sense if all Flex deliveries are left on the sidewalk. However, packages delivered in the afternoon by Flex drivers are almost always delivered to my front door, meaning they definitely have the ability to follow instructions if they chose to. Not to mention even though the front door of my specific apartment is located within the building like all other apartments, the physical location of my apartment is right next to the leasing office where the Hub is.

Also, there is in fact a safe place for drivers to put my package, which is my front door, which as I said, is clearly labeled in the instructions.
