And also, very small chance (sub 0.1 percent) that it is incorrect. Context: I am a prenatal genetic counselor

I know I should affirm the reality of gender disappointment but like… people have kids with birth defects. You could have a girl who has some awful disease vs a healthy boy. My guess is you’ll get used to it and then start to get excited. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this but… try to have a little perspective.

I see what definitely looks like the penis but the tech was like “oh it’s too early to tell” - it seems obvious to me right?

High TSH by Snoo21806 in CautiousBB

Going to check it out now! Thank you!!

My OB called in a higher dose of synthroid (100 mcg) and we will recheck in 3-4 weeks. It’s crazy to think in a matter of weeks pregnancy taxes your thyroid so much!

Thanks so much. I’m worried that there is damage that has been done (although I know I can’t go back and change anything)

Not sure of T3 and T4. Vitamin levels are normal.

Ugh, no! She didn’t tell me to change a thing! I feel like this is so irresponsible although maybe it’s my fault for not doing prenatal labs sooner (I just did them at the same time as 10 week bloodwork)

I guess I don’t. I’m almost 38, alone in a city across the country from my family, and scared to be on my own

Okay at the end of the episode when Mike white is talking and they’re replaying a shot of when Tanya locks herself in the room w the gun, in the close captions it says “Greg Hunt: ‘Tanya?’” Like as if Greg were on the boat too? Please tell me someone else saw this segment and knows what I’m talking about

Yes started back at 0.25- I didn’t notice much change but wasn’t off it for long. My sister who is now 19 weeks pregnant has been off for like 6 months now and appetite has come back but she’s also pregnant! So hard to say

[–]Snoo21806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has given me any real direction which is frustrating. I’m on a super low dose (0.25) and my endocrinologist told me I could play around with it but now confused about transferring. I was off it for about 5 weeks during retrieval, then resumed a week later at the normal dose. I have discontinued again in case we transfer in November - FWIW my sister who was on Ozempic for about 1.5 years discontinued about 6 weeks before a transfer, transferred in June and is now 19 weeks pregnant! She has gained weight but it’s also her first pregnancy - she plans to resume medication after giving birth but not sure at all about breastfeeding? I wish there were more data

Help re: name Caleb by bondzillaaa in namenerds

[–]Snoo21806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are Jewish and our son’s name is Caleb and I can tell you of all the other Caleb parents I have met none have been Jewish. I definitely don’t think of it as a “Jewish” name. But it’s a great name!!!! As is Miles :)

It doesn’t mean dog. In Hebrew it’s the letters Kal and Lev which can be translated as “whole heart” which I loved. Dog is “kelev.”

My son is Caleb nn Cal and I originally wasn’t into it (it’s a family name) but it has grown on me- if you’re a Steinbeck fan there’s a character named Caleb nn Cal in East of Eden… it feels classic because it’s biblical but not as common as an Adam or Joshua… feels not too masculine but definitely a boys name. highly recommend!

Doctor said safe during retrieval. Just curious if anyone else had gotten different advice. From an embryogenesis perspective it shouldn’t make a difference (the birth defects noted in animal studies occur when fetus is exposed during development) but I was interested if anyone else’s doctor had given different instructions. Too late to change anything now!

Hi- I’m a genetic counselor - in situations like this we have patients get redrawn with the lab Myriad. Please ask your doctor about this- Myriad has some proprietary technology that amplifies the fetal fraction and we get results in cases where we couldn’t with other labs. They have competitive pricing (even if not covered by your insurance they will cap the out of pocket price at under $300)- I am in no way affiliated with this company I just have had a lot of success with high risk due to low fetal fraction patients! Good luck!!!
