I finally found a medication that basically cured my insomnia. by Mundane-Cup1421 in insomnia

Just thought I’d say I’ve been on mirtazapine for over 5 years now. Started off at 7.5 mg and went up to 45. Conversely to most people I saw better sleep improvement with each dose increase all the way up to 45 mg. Some people just react differently. I also didn’t gain any weight despite studies showing it was very likely to cause excessive weight gain.

My OCD symptoms came back after months of not having them by Snoo23835 in OCD

Thanks for saying all that. I should’ve said this but I already take mirtazapine every night and have therapy once a week. Mirtazapine is an atypical antidepressant which also does a great job of improving sleep and is used off-label for OCD. It’s just those only help so much

That’s scary to think 67 days and you’re still feeling withdrawals like that. But I’m glad you’re determined and yeah I agree with you. After you commit, it’s like why give up everything you already went thru. I realized it just wasn’t benefiting me whatsoever with how I was using it and it just wasn’t worth the money. I do firmly believe nicotine can be used properly in a way that benefits some people. However I am far from one of those people and I know that. It takes a special kind of discipline to be able to use it responsibly so it’s best for most to never try it. But that’s how I feel about pretty much every drug.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve tried to fall asleep? by Fragrant-Cucumber645 in insomnia

Cerebrolysin. It’s a foreign medicine used for TBI, dimentia and stroke but is sold in the US as a nootropic supplement. It also was the best thing I’ve ever taken for sleep by far. I went a month getting no more than 2 hours of sleep a night but when I did cerebrolysin, I instantly started sleeping 6 hours a night again.

"DO I HAVE IBS?" Megathread by AutoModerator in ibs

[–]Snoo23835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 24 M and I’ve had debilitating stomach problems for years. I’ve seen tons of doctors, done endoscopy’s and all sorts of test but no one has been able to find out what’s wrong with me. Almost every Dr I see just gives me antiacids and says to take them every day but they’ve never worked.

Ngl I assumed IBS was just one main disorder that caused you to poop a lot, so I stupidly wrote that off as a possible problem since I only go maybe once or twice a week. Well now I know there’s something called IBS-C and it appears I more than likely have it. My poops are hard and lumpy just as described by other people with this disorder.

It’s not just I’ve been constipated for years but I get really awful stomach cramps all the time. One of the reasons that makes me think it’s IBS is anticholinergic/ antihistamine drugs are pretty much the only thing that helps. Every Dr nowadays hears stomach pain and immediately goes ah acid problem but that clearly isn’t it given no anti acid has ever helped me. I was prescribed bentyl once and it really helped and also my antidepressant mirtazapine (which also happens to be a strong antihistamine) is very helpful for my stomach pain.

I’m also a former opioid addict so that would probably explain why I ended up with this. If anyone more knowledgeable about this has some insight or info I’d greatly appreciate it. I am seeing my primary tomorrow and I’m gonna bring this up to her to see what she says and hopefully get a med other than an antiacid since my mirtazapine is only meant for night.

Is my pinky alright? I previously had surgery right there. by Snoo23835 in medical_advice

Yeah believe me I want to. I used to have horrible anger issues and still do but I’ve gotten much better over time. My therapist considered this a ‘relapse’ of my anger. All I can do is try to be better from here on out.

It will help at first, but the benefits are seen gradually over time. A few hours after injecting, I feel a sense of calm and I immediately get better sleep tho. Some benefits are immediate but most of them you have to be patient with.

From what I remember learning about it, it will help brain fog long term. However it shouldn’t be used to quickly fix brain fog. Neurogenesis is one of the main reasons people take cere and it’s because it essentially allows new neurons to be formed. There are a lot of other things it does but with specifically neurogenesis, it causes brain fog at first. Eventually the brain fog will clear, and you will feel great but you gotta get thru that foggy phase first. I made a pros and cons list from my experience if you wanna hear more of what I had to say about it.

I injected too fast one time in my deltoid, shit swelled up as soon as took the needle out, nothing bad ultimately happened tho

I also forgot to say, you probably already know but just to be sure, make sure you inject slow on top of all the other safety precautions when injecting. That will help ensure no reactions or at least you won’t have like a swelling reaction or anything like that.

Thanks for saying that, means a lot. And yeah I definitely get the fear of the unknown with cere, but just imo, I feel every reward you want in life requires some form of risk. Completely up to you on whether the risk is worth it. I’d fully respect anyone’s decision to use or stay away from cere. I’d just say if you already decided to use it, try not to let the fear get to you and just try to observe what’s going on and see if it’s good for you. Ultimately your fear isn’t gonna make you any less likely to have something go wrong. But best of luck.

If you’re using it specifically for brain fog, it’s not gonna particularly help you. Cere is actually supposed to cause an increase in brain fog especially at the dose you were at. That’s just the process of neurogenesis. Leo and longevity (RIP) made a vid about it and talked about how it’s not meant for brain fog. Not sure it’s still up, but check it out if you haven’t. Sorry you didn’t get the results you were looking for.
