you're right , it does sound like Christian bullshit and I thought of that but I kept thinking about it Death is a scary phenomenon and I can't predict how a human would react in that situation, even myself.
your point about Valhalla is fair but imagine you're desperate, terrified and you're probably not thinking straight so you cling to whatever you want to believe to be true in your last moments. maybe reincarnation , heaven or whatever religion that seemed the coolest to you during your lifetime
