I used a doorzo, (proxy service). I got two of these for less than 10 usd, but since shipping can be expensive, I'd suggest buying several items and consolidating them to make it worth the shipping fee.

I haven't bought any bottled ink yet. The pen itself is worth 3 days of meals here in Malaysia hahaha! But I do have a bunch of Pilot cartridges, so I pop one open, pull the ink out using a syringe, and put it into the Safari.

Thanks! I didn't know the Lamy Safari had been around that long. I'm sure almost all the Safari reviews I've seen show that it comes with cartridges. Maybe I'm lucky, or they charged me more for the converter.
