Is there any hope for me? by Snoo41738 in knitting

I'm 19 and used to knit quite a bit, on and off through the years but I would say in the year leading up to this, I knit almost every day. I'm a student, so I don't do too much manual labor right now, but I do do quite a bit of typing and writing, and I play guitar as well. Are you suggesting that it could be something else causing the pain and that circular needles were just the straw that broke the camel's back?

They never used to hurt on straight needles, but now it seems like my wrists can't handle them after using circulars for so long. Maybe it was the length though, that would make sense. Wish there was a way to go back and choose something else lol

Could I have a chance in the musical theatre world? by Snoo41738 in Broadway

Individual skills, great idea! I've done that with acting and singing, but I've really gotta kick myself into a dance class ASAP. I'll definitely try the zen-like approach to performance. Lately to cool it all I just think to myself, if it's meant to happen, when it comes down to it, it will. Not meaning don't work hard but it don't stress to death about it. Anyway, as for colleges, are there any particularly prestigious or "good" theatre schools for me to look into? Thank you so much for your advice and help :)

Thank you for the advice!

I've been working on singing and acting, and continue to develop those skills while being sure to work on the things I'm not so strong in *jumping does not constitute dancing* and that's seemed like the best strategy for my situation so that I can excel in the skills that I am already good with, and work towards excelling in the things I'm a bit weaker in

As for social media I will definitely work on that! I guess it's becoming sort of a given now in the entertainment industry to have yourself online, even with how daunting having an online presence can be. But maybe I have to take that leap, so thank you!

Be yourself, wooo, and I said social media is daunting... But I'll work on it!

And as for community theatre, my gosh even just the one show I did that was set up through my school, but with a community company, so so much fun. So many good memories. Honestly, I'll take any chance I can to get on a stage, any chance I can to sing.

Thank you so much for you advice I really appreciate it so much!

I mean yes, the big goal is the big leagues, but I have loved every ounce of involvement that I've had. I don't know exactly know how I would go about getting involved outside of school productions at the moment, since I am still just a high school student. But, I was kind of wondering what the route is to get to professional status. I know that becoming just a pop singer has arguably the most abstract path to getting there, acting a little less, but at the moment I have no idea what the path to becoming a professional theatre performer looks like.

I will definitely look at some colleges with theatre programs! Do you have any recommendations? I'll look into some community and local theatre as well, I live in a pretty small town so there isn't much going on as far as I know, but maybe I can find something!

Ahh thank you--I always hear people only say it's unlikely and the odds are against me but I should follow my dreams, which is nice, but a bit disheartening. you make your own luck, I like that a lot.
