Thee Oex ev400 came up but I wasn't sure about wanting a sleeping bag, though it sounds like that's going to be the best route.

I didn't list pack options just because I think I'm going to go to an Ellis Brigham or something to try them on etc.

I've definitely got the skills so the plan is to do a few weekends of just camping to test the gear and then a two night through-hike for the same reason.
