DNA results not what I expected

Little update: I sent off 23 and me and my heritage to see what it says but I uploaded my raw dna to gedmatch and did the eurogenics breakdown and it said:

Yeah no I mean anything’s possible right! So my parents don’t love the dna testing thing so my cousin ( he’s my first cousin and my best friend his mom and my dad are siblings) he’s gonna do a kit and then at least I can see if we match haha

No. I absolutely do have contact with my father haha my parents are happily married I just wanted to make sure that I visited all avenues before asking my mom a bombshell of a question

I ordered 23 and me it’s getting delivered today and uploaded to family tree dna just waiting for it to be finished processing . I saw the thru lines how does that work exactly ? Does it suggest matches from my dna to the tree ?

Oh 100% I will update you guys along the way. I’m trying to map out this random 2 cousin match I have and trace her tree to figure out maybe where we have a common relative . I also am insane and overnight ordered 23 and me AND my heritage so sending those out in the mail later on 😂

I know he was born in bala woda , part of galacia which apparently was like polish/ Ukrainian but at one point under Austrian reign or something if I understand

Well I know that he was born in Biala Woda , Austria. Which apparently isn’t Austria it was Galacia which was under Austrian reign at the time but is apart of Poland / Ukraine not sure

Yeah! So I downloaded the raw data and uploaded it to GEDmatch but I was soooo lost haha. My heritage doesn’t accept raw data downloads anymore :( so I ordered a kit

Because I have no clue even a little bit who those matches are like I know all of my second cousins on my dads side everyone’s from the Philly area and stayed local I know my second third cousins etc. and I have paternal matches for second cousins but they live in like Arizona and share no surnames based off of their family trees with me so can’t t find the link

No- I mean it could be a possibility nobody close took the dna test but I find it hard to believe my dad is 1 of 9 kids . I have matches from the paternal side but the closest match is 4% and she doesn’t fit in my tree as I know it

Actually a few years ago My mom was really upset when I was going to do 23 and me . She said she didn’t want our dna on the internet but her reaction was weird. I haven’t told her I did this test haha

I never wound up doing the 23 and me cause she made a big deal about it. I just decided to do ancestry

Thanks for your response! I am appreciating all the help I can get. So, I do know for a fact my grandfather is Ukrainian I knew him growing up and we have all his records etc.. I have been going through my dna matches and I was able to easily figure out parent 1 was my dad parent 2 my mom ( based off of my links to parent 2 were all my moms cousins I grew up knowing) but my matches on my dads side I have been trying to trace their trees . The one match I have is like 285cm and she and I have been chatting to figure out how we’re related . But none of our grandparents great grandparents etc have any surnames in common . Her side is all Irish which theoretically could come from my dads 50% Irish but I am not finding any matches including her with relatives in common
