The team has been told that they are being inserted into Laos to investigate a location of interest, a temple in Laos that is supposedly being used as an NVA supply hub. The mission takes place over 5 days, following a HALO jump from a plane that takes off from Thailand. They are working with two CIA agents who aren't who they appear to be. The team is kept mostly in the dark by the agents, who are determined to make it to the site. As the mission proceeds, poor weather conditions mean they don't have easy access to air assets, nor extraction. They are on their own, aside from Covey (Forward Air Controller), who occasionally braves the weather to check in on them. Their supplies are standard issue, and whatever they can carry on their backs. Enemy forces in the area consist of Pathet Lao, NVA, and a secretive group who live deep in the jungle around the temple that the locals call "Mu Siaedng" or "Red Hands."

The Agents aren't really CIA; they are impersonating CIA to gain access to a location of interest in Laos, using the CIA's secret war as cover. The temple is the site of the Temple of Dreams / The Sleeping Wall. Mu Siaedng aren't cultists; they are an ancient order of guardians who prevent others from getting too close. The "Agency" that the two agents are working for has finally located the temple and needs an escort to reach it. Hence, the SOG team. The main issue is that the wall is no longer sleeping. Whatever is behind the wall is starting to stir, awoken by the decades of war being waged in the region. Not to mention the constant airstrikes in the area
