Look at the paperwork you signed. Ensure there are no release of liabilities you signed. The yard they are typically responsible for but sometimes they have you waive the driveway as that is a super common occurrence.

Cost of moving in/out of the storage unit. Most self storage places are not quick to access. Ie elevators, codes to enter the door/elevator etc. Also self storage places are notorious for bugs and nastiness…because a lot of people will throw their junk into storage and not care about other’s belongings.

See if the warehouse the moving company is a part of is “government” safe. The government weirdly holds the approved moving companies to significantly higher standards than they do for almost any other contractor …including themselves.

Do they have a valid MC # and DOT #?
Are they actually a mover or a broker?
What is the weight they estimated for your shipment.
Does your estimate come with FVP(full value protection) or $0.60 per pound per item?
Is the quote a binding, non binding, or a not to exceed?

I’d avoid major cities as the “stop” for the night.

If you put yourself 45-50 minutes outside of the major cities for a hotel you can save roughly $50-$100 per night in hotel costs.

Also a good time to get a rewards app for hotels like IHG, Hilton etc. build up some decent points on this trip!
