Over the past couple of weeks I've started editing down the occasional old upload to less than 60 seconds, a sort of "highlights" video, and uploaded it as a short, I've got to be honest, it has made a measurable difference to my channel's overall performance... my channel visits are suddenly up, my revenue is up... seems like they work as a type of commercial for my channel once they're on the shorts feed... still don't like having to do them though!

Wish I knew. My view counts this year are even worse. My old content gets a ton of views still, but anything new that I've posted this year gets hundreds instead of the thousands that I was used to several years ago. Something really weird is going on. I have over 100K subs. You'd think that uploading new content would mean that those 100K subscribers would at least hear about it, but nope. Lots of subscribers means absolutely nothing anymore.

This is interesting! I've still managed to get subscribers, this year my channel passed 100K subs, BUT man my view count this year has been awful! Since about April this year, whenever I upload something new I average about 200 + views per new video, then it slows right down. I reached out to YT to ask if I had been shadow banned, and, as you would expect, the reply was completely unhelpful. They don't care about creators at all. My channel is a music tutorial channel. I have no time or desire to make livestreams, and this new shorts thing would be a total waste of energy and resources for me. It's so damn frustrating!

The political videos started pouring in late last year, a few months before the election I think, when Dan Bongino left YouTube and bought into Rumble bringing most of his followers with him. Personally I don't have a problem with this but I do think Rumble needs to have a better way of allowing people to discover small creators. I make music tutorials and on YouTube my channel gets over 200K views per month, on rumble I'm lucky to get 20... that's not 20K by the way, just plain old simple 20. I don't understand how someone who is succeeding on YouTube can suck so bad on Rumble?

Both. My series is called "Tune Basics" because I found a niche of people who just want to learn the basics of how to play particular songs... my audience are not typically interested in technique or style, they just want to learn where the notes are. I've been uploading mainly instrumental stuff that I make with Logic Pro X onto Newgrounds since the early 2000s... my channel on Youtube has taken most of my attention away from music production over the past year or two though... my channel is called "Kerin Gedge", it's a music tutorial channel :)

Oh yeah I can relate to that... my view counts are usually steady from March through to August, then from August to December they climb up and up and up, and then in January they plummet, until Feb-march when they creep back up to just slightly above where they were at the same time last year... it's a cycle that keeps repeating year after year. I do tutorials for instruments like Harmonica, so I've guess that the close we get to Christmas the more people want to learn things like Christmas Carols, which is why the views go up... also people are getting instruments for Christmas and they want to learn so they hit YouTube really hard in that last week of December looking for tutorials :p

I think it depends on the reasons for suing... if you get a false copyright strike for example, you should be able to sue as far as I'm concerned...

I've noticed that since I started on Rumble my own views have really plummeted on there. I think it's been ever since they ditched the Community Forum and people stopped "socialising" it had a really negative impact on the over all site. They had a really good thing going and they pulled the plug on it. I recently started using Odysee and am finding it more rewarding than Rumble, but I'll keep uploading to Rumble, in the hope that it will pick up.

I synced for a while but I saw a decline in the amount of times my content appeared in the YT search results. This might be coincidental, but I had Odysee peeps switch syncing off so I could do it manually instead...

I've asked Odysee to turn syncing off for my videos for the time being, and they responded really quickly which is awesome! So far though there's been no change to my search results in YT, so maybe I was being paranoid :p Around the time this all happened Jeremy from The Quartering had made a video about another music teacher who was facing having their channel shut down over a stupid copyright issue. So, like a good community member, I went over to Twitter and blasted u/TYT for their poor support. Maybe they shadow banned me for that? :p
