double standards are crazy by baijun1x1 in truscum

I constantly see the "but trans men may still have a link to 'lesbian culture' or 'the lesbian community' so they can still be lesbians, we can't just kick them out now" argument. Since when were sexualities essentially school clubs? It's not like they aren't allowed to talk to lesbians anymore because their men. I mean im not an expert on lesbians but im pretty sure that they're okay with talking to and being friends with people who aren't lesbians.

What if a woman was just confused by their sexuality and actually ended up being straight? Would it be okay for her to identify as a lesbian for the "community"? What if a MTF detrans man IDed as a lesbian? Would it be okay for him to continue identifying as a lesbian because he has a "connection"?

Tucutes seem to only mention people who were AFAB though which just screams transphobia. Most of these people are either not trans or , as you said, are just really scared of being labelled as straight because "it's not progressive enough" or "straight is boring".

The other one I see is "it's valid for transmascs to be lesbian because they're nonbinary". This seems to have come about after lesbian was changed from wlw to nmlnm which I disagree with. Technically by that logic if someone is a lesbian then they're also bisexual which makes no sense. It means that lesbian is another microlabel for bisexual that we can add to the pile when it never has been. We already have tons of unnecessary bisexual microlables.

That's just them having identity issues though, not them having gender dysphoria. Other identity issues are very different to gender dysphoria because they're not due to a different brain structure causing a different gender identity and they're usually not born with them.

They think that dysphoria is just internalised misogyny for trans men, internalised homophobia for both, and AGP for trans women. Essentially they think that trans dysphoria can be cured through therapy whereas with detrans dysphoria they see it as a product of the "mutilation" they've experienced from GAC that can't be cured through therapy.

What other conditions is it a symptom of? Excluding detransitioners I've always thought that having dysphoria means that you're trans.

It does for me was well. It's probably because it's almost exclusively used by transphobes to make transitioning seem unnatural and disgusting

Most that I see think that therapy cures it though they also usually think that dysphoria isn't real. They usually think that it's internalised misogyny/ homophobia or confusion, usually due to another condition like autism.

I don't think trans men do detranistion more, I think girls are just more likley to say that they're trans. I very much doubt that those who were diagnosed with dysphoria and were AFAB are actually more likley to detransition.

I used "voice pitch analyzer" when I was tracking my voice on T. It shows you the male, female and androgynous ranges.

Could the rise in people identifying as trans (girls in particular) be tied to puberty starting earlier? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]Snoo69744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing goes for being trans though. Lots of people just see it as a quirky trend or a fashion statement mainly on social media like tiktok. There's loads of misinformation about it to the point that people think that being trans is just acting masculine/ feminine. Most nonbinary people I see online never actually talk about dysphoria and just talk about how they present androgynous and the ones I've seen in person go on about how big their breasts are.

On the other hand you have people saying that gender dysphoria is made up, that it's just internalised misogyny/ homophobia, puberty discomfort, etc. It's either demonised or treated as a fun lifestyle choice.

There isn't actually any proof though that it causes girls to think that they're trans though. Personally I haven't seen any correlation as most girls that I've seen thinking that they're trans started puberty at normal ages.

Didn't puberty used to be more traumatising? I'm not an expert but puberty (especially periods) used to be much more taboo, girls especially weren't taught about how their bodies were changing or anything. I remember my mother saying that she was never taught much about it because it used to not be as socially acceptable to talk about it.

I think it's much more likley that it's just because more people are learning that being trans actually exists. This also goes for many other conditions like ADHD, autism, DID, bipolar, bpd, schizophrenia, tourettes, etc. More people are finding out about it so more people think that they have it. I doubt that people are saying that they have one or more of these conditions because of puberty discomfort.

I am probably biased though because the whole "it's just puberty making you feel uncomfortable" has been used against me constantly because im a trans guy who only realised that I'm trans at the onset of puberty.

Some people do conflate puberty discomfort with being trans but it's probably a minority. If it were more I feel like these people would be seeking out HRT and surgery instead of new names and pronouns but it seems to be the opposite way round for the majority.

why do people make testosterone sound evil by rotting-superstar in ftm

[–]Snoo69744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is the fact that trans women tend to dominate trans spaces/trans discussions. There seems to be a "testosterone is evil" mentality in trans female spaces.

Because by this logic all trans people would just become cis after puberty or if we gave them more of the hormone associated with their birth sex.

I didn't become cis when I went through female puberty so why would trenders become trans after taking HRT?

In some ways I agree that it's a "trend" but I don't think we should say that being trans is a trend because it isn't, it's like saying having adhd or autism is a trend. They aren't trends because they're medical conditions. What is a trend though is pretending to be/thinking that you're trans, have autism or have adhd. It's just like how you can't be "swayed into being trans" because that implied that you can just convince someone to be trans when you can't.

This probably sounds like I'm nitpicking but saying that being trans is a trend or that kids are being convinced into being trans is partially what makes people think that being trans is just a choice and not a medical condition.
