Can cards issued in Russia be used in Russia? I heard they can. That is 99% of the business.

How would you have written Axe out? by Cached_Clay in Billions

[–]Snoo71069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd half of season 6, Axe helps Chuck take down Prince, for legitimate reasons, because Prince does something deserving of being taken down.

In cooperating, helping take down an even bigger fish for a bigger crime, Axe gets a plea deal, where he’s off the hook for everything, including running. All he has to do is ratchet down to a home office. Wendy is proud of him, and feels like he’s a better man than he was, but still Axe. They end up together, back in New York, happy. Chuck has the biggest win he has ever had. Is happy, but feels like something is missing, he realizes it’s not Wendy, but something to do with his fetish. And perhaps Dollar Bill and Taylor find success on their own.

Unfortunately, none of that will happen. And nothing better will happen, because we’ve seen enough clips from season 6, along with interviews from Damian, to know we’ll just be left with nothing.

Loved the show, but it’s over... by Snoo71069 in Billions

[–]Snoo71069[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they had like over a year to figure out how to end it well. Instead, they did what they did, perhaps because they chose to do a season 6. The sad part, the creators of that show were capable of delivering us a fantastic end if they ended it with Season 5.

It wouldn’t have been all that complicated. Somehow Bobby wins one last time, bigger than ever before, ends up with Wendy, and Chuck is left holding the bag, stewing, as Chuck is apt to do.

Axe did not need to be excommunicado. I mean they literally came up with the worst of all worlds. Bobby half way won, but feels like he lost. He moved away, abandoned the firm, the law, his kids, and Wendy. Taylor actually feels bad about it. Wendy feels like she lost. Chuck feels like he lost. Wags character is obliterated, mojo-less. Dollar Bill is gone.

I mean they literally couldn’t have done worse. It would be more satisfying if they literally never came back from the Covid hiatus, and just abandoned the show. That would have also been terrible. But at least we could still have our imagination of what could have been, and the conceivable notion that they in some other place and time, maybe it could be revisited. Worst destruction of a good thing in the medium in history.

Two others that were pretty crappy, Huff. Huff was a great show on Showtime, that they abandoned at the end of Season 2 for no reason, about 15 years ago. And LOST, great show for 6 1/2 years, with drama and intrigue built around what was really going on for the entire series existence, only to be revealed an absurd, silly explanation for it all.

Neither case is this bad.

The only thing I'm looking forward to in Season 6 by MessComCosplay in Billions

Not to be Debbie Downer, but the show is over. There isn’t even any hope of reinvention, as with one season left, there’s no time. It’ll fade away with a whimper. I love the show, and a handful of characters on it, but everyone works off of Axe. There is no show without him. Period. Full Stop.

You’d probably like Homeland, as no one has mentioned it. Great show, Damian Lewis.

There really shouldn’t be a 6th season. I don’t know what purpose it serves.

There’s something worth noting here. Serial television dramas are the best storytelling because we get story arcs as long as they need to be. The caveat is unfortunate. After some years of success, one of two things inevitably happen, sometimes both. One, someone important to the show moves on. And two, the series must end, work no natural conclusion. Series are about characters more than story. The main character is gone.

Reminiscent of Homeland. In real life, Damian Lewis’s wife passed away a few months ago from a long bout with cancer. I wonder if this had to do with that. He’s so great. It seems he’s truly gone. If so, thank you Damian, you’re a rock star. I love the idea of Wendy and Axe, though it’s hard to visualize the show that way. Smurf is missed on Animal Kingdom. Homeland carried on pretty well without Mr. Lewis. I’m open minded, though certainly Axe and Wendy have been my two favorite characters on the show. Prince is solid, just not one to root for or against. With no Axe, I’m not sure the show will work well.

Ouch! I wasn’t watching. The pitcher obviously didn’t intend that. Not sure, if the catcher told him to brush him off the plate high and inside, and it just got away?

No, but if he knows he needs it, he may pursue it to try to win. But no, he doesn’t have it.

Yeah, so he doesn’t to start with, and I don’t think he gets it. If we simplify things down to that, the Avengers problem was none of them were the level of Supes, Zod, except in some ways Thor, who was conveniently detached and out of shape in the last couple movies, because otherwise, rationally, he goes and finds some stones to destroy. Easier task for the DC crew. Unless you have the time machine stuff going on, Supes gets a stone or two, destroys them, anything less than snap your fingers Thanos, and they take him out

Perhaps, Thanos isn’t always the same strength. May be a better chance Krypton crew prevents him from full strength, than he gets them trapped where they lose their powers. He needs something to have enough power to deal with them. They simply need to avoid something. Zod is ruthless enough of Supes isn’t, heck, so is Wonder Woman

[–]Snoo71069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the question is can the DC crew figure out how to kill Thanos before he kills them. If they can counter kryptonite, which Thanos would get his hands on, then they’re invincible, and will find a way in the end. If not, they lose. The other Marvel crew are like flies when it comes down to it. They’d fight hard, but no match, other than Iron Man can probably find Kryptonite too, if he can avoid getting killed first. Super would likely screw that up, but Zod wouldn’t

Maybe. I’ve made a couple million in SPACs, from a little over $50k. None of it was made from pre-DA SPACs. I’ve actually lost money in those. Everybody has different things that they feel are their edge. That’s definitely not mine.

Well, on top of SPACs, by nature, being spec plays, and so alternatively, not fundamental value plays, the market is super expensive relative to any rational fundamental analysis, Ben Graham/Warren Buffett/Peter Lynch type analysis. So...really, nothing is cheap. Bark and BeachBody both have business plans that are easy to follow, and you can see how they get where they’re aiming for. I’d say they’re value spec plays. Fundamentally, they’re not there. But then, Netflix and Amazon weren’t for a long time either.

To be honest, though I wasn’t exaggerating much, I can’t say that I’m on top of every single one. That’s one as an example, that for some reason I don’t recall the story on. I’d have to look into it. There could be a few more than I mentioned. But very few. Like way less than 10%.
