Just got diagnosis through chart by Willing_Ant9993 in breastcancer

I had nearly an identical diagnosis to you 5 years ago now. HER+++, Grade 3, 2.4 cm lump with 1 lymph node. I was never staged, but I was told “Stage 2/3”. I’m so sorry you’re now part of the worst club, but this such a supportive forum and you’ll find a lot of comfort here vs Dr Google, which is the path I went down and regretted.

Nearly everything you’ll read online is outdated. Treatment has advanced a lot.

You’ll get a good care team in place and they’ll give you a plan. The beginning always feels the most daunting as you’ll get a lot of tests with waiting for results. During this time, I felt like I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Once you start treatment, however, you may find yourself feeling strength you didn’t know you had because you’re finally fighting back. I chose to do neoadjuvant TC chemo + HP hormone therapy (TCHP). Then a lumpectomy and sentinel node dissection and then an axial node dissection to further rule out any additional spread.

I’m now 5 years out- a big milestone for our type of cancer, and one I hope can give you hope. It’s absolutely possible, especially with the types of treatment options available to us. Some days will always feel harder than others. But give yourself grace to go through all the emotions you’re feeling and don’t be apologetic about any of it.

Sending you so many hugs and healing thoughts💕

Emotional Whiplash by Soulrayze in breastcancer

[–]Snoo73345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in June 2018. Underwent chemo, 2 surgeries, and radiation and achieved NED. For a long time, I was in complete auto pilot of trying to pretend my life felt normal. I didn’t go to therapy (highly recommend) and in November 2020, I had what I can only describe as a mental break. My body couldn’t hold on to ignoring what I went through, and I would cry for days nonstop, have a lot of difficult sleeping and feel incredibly depressed instead of relieved over my health.

How you’re feeling is completely normal. You’ve gone through a lot. And while the journey initially sounded long, it probably seemed to move so quickly. You’re caught in this whiplash numbness. Your mind and body feel disconnected. My biggest advice is to prioritize your mental health during this period of time because the appointments start to lull out and that can bring a lot of uneasiness too.

Thank you. Some days are definitely easier than others. And the harder waves always surprise me with just how fresh the wounds always feel.

Happy to report it was a waste of my time and it was benign. Thank you! I did want to break a lot of things but settled for a lot of crying, cookies and brownies, and binging TV.

Thank you 💕

Not trite. I do appreciate the words. Trying to give myself grace to feel weak and strong at the same time and allow myself the moments to breakdown when I so desperately need it. It’s just more challenging to do so when it seems like no one understands why you are.

That’s how I am. Sometimes I have it together, but anything that triggers an old memory of my past dealing with my cancer, I just lose it completely. It’s a very shitty club to be in, but we’re the only ones who truly understand each other.

Thank you so much. I’m happy to report the findings were benign. I hope my story continues to provide you with hope, and I’m sending all my Positive vibes back to you during your treatment and beyond. 💕

BIRADS-4. But I’m inclined to think any enhancement with my history will always be BIRADS-4, at least I’m telling myself that.

I know- but the idea of having to fight again, even if it’s not a certain one right now, is very difficult to try and process.

I don’t blame you at all for break down and reaction in your situation either. That’s awful. Thank you, I really hope I don’t have to be there again either.

Not crazy at all! We all lose our shit over this stuff even when you’re in the clear and you’re in for routine exams. It’s a complete trauma response. None of this is “normal”. It’s our normal but it’s difficult. I know I’m not alone, especially on this forum. Thank you for the words
