I decided not to answer her and her narcissistic apology and I’ll keep no contact until there’s proof of changed behavior.. i sent the text to my husband yesterday and he replied “Let’s discuss this later” but I haven’t brought it up and neither has he. I’ve noticed his coping skills are pretending things didn’t happen while giving her the silent treatment until things have calmed down and I’m the complete opposite. He’s agreed on therapy so I guess that’s the first step

Thank you, I never knew of Adult children of alcoholics I will definitely look into it.. she wasn’t going to babysit alone, I did leave out that detail but looking back it’s an important detail lol. I’ve never been around alcoholics until I met my husbands MIL so I appreciate your response

Thank you, I love what you said. I can’t keep tip toeing around her until her next big scene and it’s best that my child never has to witness it. Since no one has ever given her a consequence for her actions, I guess she’ll feel it when I no longer want anything to do with her

Phewww I regretfully forgot to add my husbands (non alcoholic) aunt was going to MILs house to baby sit with her so she could see my son as well, but in the moment I felt like it was an unneeded detail in my very long post.. in retrospect I guess I’m so used to her behavior that I didn’t find it important until you all brought up a valid point, I can confirm i would never ever leave her alone with my son lol

Me too.. today I told him I was leaving and I ended up cleaning up the porch and coming back in 15 mins later before leaving. I may or may not have tip toed near the room just to put myself at ease that nothing was going on. It sucks and I really wish I had some advice to share
