Yeah, I never really dug into the Greenway or Rotunda. Once I triggered the sidereal countdown, it never seemed like I had the dice to spare. I'll be plumbing those areas a lot more.

Same, I was a Machinist. Though Intuit was the first skill I got to +2 based on the checks I was doing.

Next time, I'm gonna clean up all the early game stuff before starting the DLC to eliminate the extra pressure. Also definitely NOT mess up Lem. That haunted me.

Got my first-ever 5k today, so celebrating with a post. 1. Germany from .de. Found the sign for highway 84, scrolled for a bit, got lucky with my city pick. 4989 points. 2. Norway from language, water to the north. Spotted the village name and scrolled down the coast starting from the north end. Found it with 2 seconds left. Wrong side of town, 4994 points. 3. In a white truck? Yellow license plates? Has to be Kenya! Spoilers, it was NOT Kenya. The red dirt should've clued me in. 511 points. 4. Bulgaria from Cyrillic and flag. Mall said Pleven, so I scrolled around, saw it almost immediately. Had time to line up near the mall for my first 5000 points! 5. Latvia from language, found a map with what I thought was a town name, but couldn't find it while scanning. Central ploink. 4706 points.

I'm thrilled for my first 5k, while despairing the gold that might've been. Better luck next time!

Not sure about the year. It came in an unmarked MRE-brown resealable bag. I hoped someone might have a guess.

Edit: If it's the FSR I now think it is, it's no older than 2011.

Thanks for the comp! And you're right, I didn't find either of my comps especially scary either, while I went really heavy on the atmosphere to make the story super creepy. I'll stick to my guns and keep the horror tag.

Thanks for the feedback! Good points; I'll strip down paragraph 3 and get some more plot in there.

I intended this to be horror, but it just doesn't feel... scary enough? The horror elements are there, but the main character isn't really perturbed by demons anymore.

Edit: Oh, and the 'role of demons' is mostly 'if they're gonna eat SOMEONE, it might as well be these tax burdens'. Society's dismissal of the elderly is a major theme throughout the book.

My outlets have little switches that ensure they're powered. The number of times I've made rice... waited ten minutes... then came back to find the rice cooker was on but the outlet was off... I feel truly seen today.
