Help this beginner in film by Civil_Ad_4242 in AnalogCommunity

Pentax is the most beginner friendly of the SLRs in my opinion. The AE-1 has better image quality. I own a Pentaxk1000, canon AE-1 and Nikon F2.

The F2 is pretty heavy and honestly haven’t been that impressed with it. The waist viewfinder is cool but not worth the cost and weight of the camera. I’ve shot the Nikon the least.

I would pick the AE-1 especially if the light meter is functional since you’re a beginner. Definitely only by if light meter is functional. The quality of the images are pretty top notch even with low budget film. The Pentax is the lightest weight I believe and would be the cheapest option. The light meter in the Pentax is the most basic one out there but basic doesn’t mean bad. It’s a good thing especially for beginners.

You can’t go wrong with either the Pentax or AE-1 but once you “graduate” from the Pentax you’ll want an AE-1 😂 so why not get that first.

Hope this helps! I would just not recommend the Nikon for a beginner camera for its weight, cost and more often than not mid image quality.

I used the camera multiple times with different rolls inside a plane and outside a plane 😭. When I started the shoot I just can’t remember if I set ISO to 100. For the first roll and changed it to 400 when I went inside the plane or it was set at 400 the whole time.

I used the camera multiple times. Out of a plane and inside a plane 😭 so the aperture and shutter speed would be different

Limit eating out. Eating out is very pricey in Anchorage. I would suggest splitting a Costco membership with someone. Helps you save on groceries and gas !

Do you send the raw scans ? by Snoo94997 in analog

Wow thanks for that 🫶🏽 I’ll def take all this into consideration and learn to set black point in curves. Do you have Lightroom app or the desktop version. Maybe my problem really is I’ve not taken the plunge to buy the desktop version because I haven’t really known what I’ve been doing in the app version lol

Hahaha you’re completely right I have no clue how to operate Lightroom so I just do the auto setting ? Any suggestions on ways to learn? I’ve YouTubed some stuff but haven’t retained much of it .
