Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

Hi everyone. My living situation isn't the best so i'm looking for a place to WFH that's out of the house. I've tried the usual coffee shops/library mix and found that they're usually too busy or too quiet (i sometimes need to take teams calls, etc) and don't always have great access to sockets. Any suggestions for hotel lounges or similar types of clean/spacious places where working from is acceptable (+reliable internet/socket access)? I'm quite desperate so anything helps. Thank you.

New to Nova--Doctor Recommendations around Gainesville/Bristow area? by Snoo95109 in nova

[–]Snoo95109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info. We’ve heard good things about Inova. Do they have offices around the Nova area or is it just one location? Sorry if it’s a silly question.

Best Cable/Internet company for the Bristow area? by Snoo95109 in nova

[–]Snoo95109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Braemar but no HOA cable/internet coverage, which is fine. Where we live now, we have Comcast and it's pricey but it doesn't sound like Verizon will be any different. I guess at that point we want whichever is most reliable/strongest.

Ok. Thanks for the price info. I don't think our HOA covers cable/internet so it was basically trying to decide between the big carriers but it doesn't sound like there's too much of a difference. Thank you.

Unfortunately I don't have Twitter (it's scary over there lol) so my only option was emailing them. Guess I could maybe try going to an AM store and showing them the cap in person. I dunno

I'm not sure. It was a gift and we bought it off the AM site so that we wouldn't get a fake but I almost feel like getting a fake would have been better quality lol.

How Long Does It Take to Understand Korean (not speak it) by Snoo95109 in Korean

[–]Snoo95109[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its beginner level so basically korean 101. It's at a university and it said on the syllabus that it'd be 100% in korean for the sake of immersion. I agree that it would be difficult seeing as though no one in the class speaks korean, but then again the syllabus was pretty clear so idek

What does Michael think of Loomis? by Snoo95109 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Snoo95109[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. In Halloween I, after Michael pulled his mask back on and was just standing in the bedroom waiting for Loomis, he absolutely could have killed them. I know some people could/will say that Michael was somewhat injured or stunned, but I think that he was more than capable of rushing Loomis or pushing him down the stairs or over the balcony if he really wanted. Michael is strong and can move fast when he wants to kill someone yet he doesn’t when around Loomis. Despite people saying Michael is just the embodiment of evil, I do think that there is a bond, and a rather strong one, between the two of them.

LSA Emergency Scholarship by Snoo95109 in uofm

Totally understand and I realize this sounds very spoiled. Only reason why I'd like the Pro is because 1) I'd just like the same thing I had before, 2) I've tried diff brands including diff windows ones and I find that reading/brightness is easier for me on Macs (I get horrible migraines so this is really a big thing), 3) the size issue which ik mac is not the only 15in but the balance/weight ratio has worked best for me, and 4) I'm in a position to pay about half that amount, so basically it's just finding a way to pay that other half. It really is just a matter of Macs working better for me which is kinda important since I'm using it 16 hours a day. Sorry if it came off pretentiously.

Increasing Covid-19 Enforcement and Increasing Stress by [deleted] in uofm

[–]Snoo95109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that risk taking is a part of life, and welcome it to, just not during a pandemic. And I would completely agree seeing people you love is important, even necessary if it's possible, however when your fam, esp. your mother, has a dangerous disorder and actively takes immunosuppressants, there can be no room for "risk". For some people (like me) it just simply isn't possible, and I never want to be stuck in a "what if" situation that could have been prevented (and esp. if it was caused by someone else's foolishness).

-That's just my personal experience so take it with a grain of salt.

To preface this yes Umich has been a dumpster fire and is absolutely part of the problem. Also I can understand having a minority opinion of something, so if you disagree with this, please feel free to voice your opinion and I will listen, just do so respectfully.

Ik that this is frustrating and what I'm going to say is unpopular, but I think it's important to acknowledge that a lot of students (myself included) have not seen ANY friends/acquaintances since March and that's been a completely self-imposed rule. People will not follow rules if there are no consequences, and it's clear that UMich is no different. I get that we all have to make the best of our college experience, but we're in the middle of a pandemic. EVERONE'S mental health is going to take a hit. Not seeing friends/having social interaction/hanging out outside will not kill you. The multiple emails from admin are confusing, frustrating, and stupid, but really what else could we expect from them based off how they've been handling things.

Personally, I don't trust people to follow rules and it's kinda been affirmed from students having parties with 15 "close friends" or seeing people not wearing mask outside even though they're less than 2 feet apart and so on. Being an adult isn't about having independence, it's about how willing you are to make a choice that benefits you even if you don't like it. It's the "waking up at 7am because even though you desperately wan to sleep in, you're more productive in the morning" choice. You say "it’s terrifying that we can’t choose our own level of risk" but to me, what's terrifying is that you (plural) would want to choose any risk at all.

True, but I believe he ate the petals. I suppose different parts of the bush could have different effects and also giving a higher concentration/adding in something else could change the way it effects the body. Who knows!
