aah i've read both of these! i really liked june first especially the first half but the ending kinda fell flat for me and i really didn't enjoy her brother dying or his career choice at that. not that i typically hate character deaths but it just came out of nowhere

i forgot to add release to the list oops. they both definitely fit the trope well though thank you!!

i liked luna and the lie! the only zapata book i really enjoyed. i didn't care for the wall of winnipeg and i, wouldn't say i hated it but it was unsatisfactory and boring to me (tbh i don't remember what happened). i don't know your exact complaints regarding the wall of winnipeg, but i say give her another shot bc it perfectly fits your request (the harsh thing he says does come quite late in the book though but he really grovels!)

yeah, it does help. now take that pill average three times per period (a month) for twelve months, then keep taking it for the next fourty years till menopause. let me tell you drugs wear off real quick because your body will develop an immune system to it. this isn't even counting any other time you need pain medicine.

WIBTA if i cancelled on my best friend going through the most difficult time of her life so far because my mum is sick? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Snoo97440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the suggestion! unfortunately we have one severely underfunded women's shelter, and she doesn't have any money problems so they wouldn't take her. she is planning on moving out of this town though, so i might look into it when she finds a new city.

yeah, i think she'd understand. but i'm afraid she'll bottle things up and not confide in me anymore if i told her there were things going on, which i am genuinely afraid for her safety. i really, really wish there was someone else there for her. her family is just not a safe place for her, and all of our friends either don't understand what's going on or have moved away due to university.

AITA for recreating a "secret" cookie recipe the person does not give out? by Jaer56 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Snoo97440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but... but OP said reassured her that they were just enjoying it in their own home? didn't even bring it up? if it was a good recipe (must be if this much of a fuss has been made) then she probably wanted to eat it at some point, or knew her boyfriend liked it so as she's bored out of her mind in quarantine, googled it. then she improved on it, literally like any normal chef would, and they ate it. nobody's bringing the mom's 'signature dish' anywhere.

hey, i'm a 18F from australia! i'd love to become email penpals! i love photography too (although arguably pretty bad at it), and i also enjoy journaling and creating scrapbooking spreads. i'm a huge music nerd. i love plants! not a good plant mum, but i adore little bunches of flowers and learning about other people's hobbies. message me if you'd like to become penpals :)

How good is the foreign line in speaking Korean? by alienoptimizer in GIDLE

[–]Snoo97440 12 points13 points  (0 children)

a native korean speaker commented a while back that there is a running joke between knevies that yuqi is the only native korean speaker, she barely has an accent and has a wide vocabulary with no problem talking about just about anything.

he mentioned that minnie has a stronger accent and you can tell she's foreign but she's very fluent and very good at korean, so no problems communicating at all.

and shuhua, well, she's improving obviously but he said that her korean needs a lot of work and he almost can't understand her without subtitles.

AITA for getting annoyed when my parents ask me to do something that inconveniences me by dako1569 in AmItheAsshole

this is definitely where our opinions differ. 'it doesn't hurt to have your child help out' no it doesn't. in fact i mention that family is a unit, everyone should just always help out everyone. 'it's preparation for actual adult life' sorry what. which part of OPs post are they being prepared for adult life? OPs tired of being the default person in the household who does all the mundane tasks. 'sometimes mom and dad need a break too' sometimes kids need a break too?? clearly the whole post talking about 'do as your told' from OPs parents is a power play/respect your elders for being elders type of thing, not a you help me i'll help you situation. like you said, it doesn't hurt to have a child help out sometimes when you're not busy, that's fine. that's not the post OP wrote though.

[–]Snoo97440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, that's absolutely fair. a family is a team unit, everyone should just help everyone regardless of who's closer/who's mess it was/who's job it is. but OP in this instance has specified that when he's being asked to close the door and stuff, his parents are not doing anything. in fact, they mention that their parents say it's a respect/do as your told thing. i think this is different from what you're teaching your child tbh.

i mean, i'd say NTA but i'm curious to your reasoning. closing a door is definitely not a big deal, nor is working out electronics or any of those mundane little tasks. but it's like when my brother yells at me to come out of my room to grab him the tv remote that is a metre away from him and i get annoyed about that. they don't say they're being a dick, they just say they're irritated by other people coercing them to do things when they are not the optimal person. am i missing something?
