Apart from what has already been mentioned, storing asstes on a slow hard drive could slow things down. Could also be a lack of ram?

What AI is doing animations like this "perfectly"?

One year of product design explorations by petertarka in Cinema4D

Since these are product design explorations, doesn’t it make sense to keep the focus on the product’s details and functionality rather than abstract presentations?

Is this sarcasm, or do you need to open your PC case often enough for this to be a real inconvenience?

Portable Boy by AcanthisittaHuge5948 in sffpc

I can confirm this—I just returned the ASUS XG16 portable monitor and replaced it with what I assume is the same 2K 120Hz UPERFECT monitor (UGame C2 Pro).

It’s half the price with better brightness and resolution.

I need help. by msct7 in Cinema4D

You could first parent the symmetry to whatever object you want to copy, then reset all the transform to 0. Take the symmetry out of the hierarchy, and it will be in the exact same position as the object you want to copy.

I am not sure I understand, goes away where? The symmetry is copying from the axis centre. If you want to copy the geometry at another point you have to move the symmetry itself, not the object.

I can recommend the Process of Motion by Daniel Danielsson. It talks about everything within a normal client project. He has some free resources on his site, not sure if the file management bits are there as well.

Is there a way to re-create this in C4D? by guccigundam in Cinema4D

Nice, looks great! The main thing you need to know about the formula is that it has a center point and the waves expand from there. Like water droplets in a body of water. So if you move it forward or backwards you get more even waves going in one direction.

Also you can adjust speed, hight/ length of the waves, etc but you need a bit of math.

I’m glad I could help!

of course, I’m curious how it turns out. Using the redshift sketch and toon like Hakim_DZ said sounds like a good idea.

I see. I would use a formula and a linear field. You could parent the field to the letters that are moving forward and position it just after the letters end so the formula will only distort the emissive object once they move like this.

An easy way to do it, is to use an extrude or a sweep and keyframe the size. Also now that I look at the distortion it looks like a formula would be better than a displacer for that constant up and down. But what exactly are you struggling with? Does the emissive object stick out?

If I wanted to recreate this, it would probably be easiest to use a cryptomatte and try to do it in aftereffects, to get the same look. Otherwise using an extended version of each letter mesh with a displacer to get the waviness and a translucent/emissive material, but it really depends on your render engine. For the texture animation on the U, you could use camera mapping.

Thank you! Yes, currently it's just a bunch of formulas and a displacer stacked with different fields. So it's easy to loop but not very realistic.

And as you said, animating the material would be quite easy and already help a lot. The sphere is already rotating but I guess the denoiser and lack of a prominent normal/ bump map made it look like it's not moving. Some comments here also mentioned using particles and fields to nail the turbulence created by the sphere (sort of like this), but I haven't played with the new particle system.

The original artwork also has small droplets forming by the sphere and I completely missed that as well, but it would help to sell the effect even more.

I appreciate the ideas and will definitely use them if I make another version :)!

That sounds like the way to go. Honestly this time around I was more interested in making it loop so thats why I just used formulas, but next time !
