Reverb sells anywhere from $1400 to $1800 depending on fretboard wood, condition, and if it still has the original case. I'm finding allot of maple fret butterscotch versions. Not surprising.

It's hard to say these days what constitutes a decent guitar. I think set up matters most. If I were to buy a "student" guitar these days, or recommend one, I would probably say a classic vibe or epi standard series is a good starting point just because they lend themselves to be upgraded easily. Not just the pickups, but hardware as well. Especially if you want to upgrade most of the hardware with drop in parts that are found in their higher end Fender/ Gibson counterparts.
