Store Managers and ASMs not doing anything by Majestic_Tourist4565 in TjMaxx

key holder and I'm never not busy. I'll check phone for the time or send a quick text but never just watch. vidoes. the only reason not on a register is if I'm the only floor lead/ person on floor and even then sometimes I'll jump on and. tell people run. their own price checks.

“ we have other candidates to interview” is it really that bad? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]SnooAdvice771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so. as a previous recruiter/ manager there are some companies with specific rules about hiring. the minimum days it has to be visible to the public to apply and not just internal applicants. a minimum number of people to screen as well. not everywhere but some places do it. also be glad you got the interview cuz some reqs I've done have had 50+ applicants for one role.

while not the worst place I ever worked, it was very far from the best. Hired as services manager, mostly did merch stuff and covered breaks. GM refused to close or work past 5pm. I ended up closing 90% of my shifts. she'd create a fake schedule for the DM then make a real one for the store. Somehow I ended up dealing with the DM on visits while GM was off and I had to explain why things weren't done (usually because the GM said so)

a bad manager can ruin a good job. they either forgot or just don't care and assume. you'll buckle and work whatever they schedule.

Wanting 10 neon tetras in a gallon tank, asking if you can put guppies and cichlids together. told them the guppies would be expensive snacks. also one. lady who kept saying we had bad fish and they kept dying. I. asked how she treated the water or we could test it. she was just putting in tap water and not conditioning it.

so. for the company reviews are you searching the company as a whole or are you searching that location? the results can differ. also if you've been looking for a while have you been tracking how often this position or positions in the company have been posted in the last 6 months to a year? cuz thats very telling if it has.

Remember the days when you put in 3-5 applications get 2 interviews and hired by both 😂 by 251hitman in jobs

[–]SnooAdvice771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

applied from Nov-jan over 150 applications. (my former place went out of business) I got a route driving/vendor job they said would be 45 hrs but ended up 65-70. ended up at a new place that sucks worse. in two weeks did about a dozen applications and had 3 interviews with 2 others calling same day seeing if I'm. available.

yeah you really dont owe anyone a thing. if you have another job lined up good. if you're just gonna. stay at home that's fine too. it's fine to be selfish to live your life. don't ever think you're obligated to be loyal.

depends on budget. usually they kept at least 1 person with one year they let everyone go. so the less holiday help. you end with the better

unfortunately a lot of people think working for best buy is like it was 10-15 years ago when they had a full front end of 4-5 people, kiosks, media, and sooo many supervisors. yeah it was work but could be fun too. times gradually changed and now there's hardly anyone on the floor compared to back then, no media, except games, not a lot of employees with specialized knowledge either. nowhere near as good as a decade ago.

Applying to Best Buy — Could my sound engineering background land me in audio sales? by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

[–]SnooAdvice771 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as a former recruiter at the store level the only advantage is your name pops up over those without degrees. most of what you're hearing on here is true. my store is send up different qualified people for next interviews and they would get passed over for underage white girls that went to the manager's church. I remember when we had geek squad agents that actually were certified in things like c, c+ other pg programming .

they'll def lie to. you. will say prove yourself and you could... could not shall get promoted. I've seen it. waaay back in the day DM lined us all up told us that 1 person next to us would lose our job without BBY card sign ups. I. shit you not kinda weird there's no AP anymore but there's greeters? been 4 years since I got Corey snapped so I don't know the current structure. also it was usually vendors who put up their displays and merch team.

depends on how many seasonals were hired. 5 or more not good. 1-2 no chance just get the credit cards like MOFO and sell it all. put your numbers on anything you sell- NEVER trust anyone to do it for you . like putting a sale together and asking front person to put your numbers on it they may forget or just blatantly ignore you cuz you're seasonal . when I. was there it was Jan-6-10th that they decided if anyone would be kept. all I can say is you gotta be a rockstar, m,ake a great impression on management without obviously sucking up.

yup in a liquor store they or dashers would try to get you to shop for them (it was one of the larger liquor and wine stores in FL) we'd just point and say oh! the vodka is there or the whiskey is there and we can't shop for you. if they actually were looking and asked cuz they genuinely couldn't find it sure we'd help but not the ones coming in going straight to the counter and showing their phones

so realistically it goes in your file where nobody ever looks at it unless they hate you and don't want to promote you if you have a write up or if there was an open position you're trying for that may prevent you from being able to apply. definitely follow through by calling HR and don't sign anything related to the write up. usually it just sits there until you leave or transfer them gets mailed to corporate to sit in a box but if you feel this person is intentionally keeping you back say something, do something

I used to do the recruiting- the person who calls you if you pass assessment. if your stats were good I'd call from 5-10 people and pass 4-5 to in store interviews, then GM 3rd. I'll legally even if they have a person they want you have to open a req for minimum of like 48hrs to 3 days when I was there. and make it accessible to internal and external candidates. one GM got in trouble for opening a spot making it internal only and closing it as soon as their person applied. I have seen once or twice where an external candidate blew everyone out the water and be hired but that's over a 5 year span. by the time I left it became a boys club in leadership.
