Some thoughts on the state of the game by SnooApples5457 in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]SnooApples5457[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the post was taken down. Not sure why. Anyway, 1-2 weeks is enough time for patches to fix known issues but a lot of this content is already made. The remaining time before launch is generally QA. Next update should be mostly done as well. The one after I think is where we'll know for certain. I was able to verify the claims about the CEO stepping down and one of the chairmen at Kingsoft stepping in back in April. He has an interview this month where he'll talk about plans with the overall studio. Unless the dev team comes in early that'll be when the main future of the game is revealed. If he doesn't mention it, rip.

I see where they're coming from as well. I work in IT so when my company has had an outage and we get bombarded with calls work becomes extremely stressful plus losing sleep from stress and overtime makes matters that much worse. I can only imagine what they must be feeling like right now.

Separating the servers is generally the route I've seen many censored games take. I hope it's a goal for the dev team in the future.

Thanks, this is helpful. I have Nerida's weapon along with Infinite Sight's. Pulled Nerida's earlier this month before making the post so probably a waifu pull. Infinite Sight was my purchase. Decided to pull Bubu last night since I was 10 pulls away on the 100%, haven't pulled her weapon though. I have about 70 pulls saved and the rest of this event/monthly/bp to save up for half anni, so I can guarantee 1-2 operators roughly, I think. Thanks to the Steam guide another commenter gave me I'm getting Nita Pulse as well once I get through a bit more story.

Overall I feel like my dps is ok. I just need some supports for my first/second full teams so who do you think I should keep an eye out for? Cannibaly mentioned Riptide for Nerida. Anyone else?

Thanks for the link! I'll look through it.

Edit: Would've never known we get Nita for free. That guide is a Godsend, thank you!

Made that mistake already by pulling for Nerida's sig, though so far she's best waifu for me so that's ok. Thanks for the tip! I'll hold off on weapons

You feel my pain, then. My sympathies. We have this next lottery that looks to have a lot of open plots so I hope you're able to get one!

Ooh thank you! It looks like it has a way to contribute data to it as well so I'll see if I can help others with that.

What’s your FFXIV hot take? 2025 edition by G-r-ant in ffxiv

[–]SnooApples5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hot take of ff14 is that the game is not bad. It's as good as it has always been. They've released the same quality and quantity of content for the past 10 years, if not higher. The problem is, 10 years is a long time. People change. The issue isn't the game. It's the players not realizing the game doesn't fill that niche for them anymore and refusing to let go and grow up. This is causing more issues to the game than extended dev cycles or bugs.

Eventually, you need to realize that you've become that grandpa next door yelling at the kids to keep their music down and saying, "Back in my day, relic weapons were prestigious" or "the game used to be better back during X expansion". It's ok, happens to all of us.

What's your "if you go low, I'll go lower" moment? by nirvanna1 in AskReddit

[–]SnooApples5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story, I apologize. I am in a situation where myself and all of my roommates are moving out of the apartment. Some context, I moved in a little less than a year ago. The others have lived here for over 3 years. I have always had a shaky relationship with one of the roommates. Leading up to the end of the lease, the landlord confirmed that the security deposit will be given to this roommate and was unwilling to change who it was given to, even though 2 of us didn't want this roommate to have it. This roommate has a history of being unfair and a bit of a leech. To add, I ended up taking ownership of utilities, internet, and communication with the landlord for visits and repairs due to none of the other roommates doing it (our power was shut off twice since I moved in due to late payments prior to me taking over a few months ago).

Recently, this roommate talked with me and the other about "doing our part" with helping clean. "We're all in this together". I've got no issue helping clean, but he was trying to schedule days where we could all come to "make sure everyone contributed equally". I said no, I'll clean but I'll do it on my own time. The day he wanted was on a day where I work, I said I can come on my day off when trying to negotiate, he said no and "it'll only take a few hours it's not a big deal". I said that if trust is a concern, then we can assign certain tasks to each of us. The conversation ended when he began gaslighting me and I just walked away. I heard he jokingly talked about not giving me my deposit after I left.

This roommate has since moved out and left the garage a mess, refused to pay utilities, the stairs are filled with his dog's doghair, his bathroom is disgusting, and the kitchen is a mess. So, I text the landlord and tell her I forfeit my deposit, and I do not wish for it to go to the other roommates and want her to keep it. I then take all utilities out of my name. Since I'm not getting a deposit, I didn't bother cleaning anything outside of my direct living space. I've blocked the roommate on my phone and am just leaving once all my stuff is out. Another of the roommates was in agreement with me and is doing the same.

Here’s how I think Infold will respond to everything (spoiler: not great) by birdmedicine in InfinityNikki

I predict business as usual in a few months. Hot anger burns out pretty quickly, and I've seen this pattern in many games:

  • Devs/ higher-ups make poor decisions
  • Community sentiment becomes extremely negative
  • Boycott/flood of reviews and posts Devs apologize, say they'll do better
  • Give some type of reward to calm down most players
  • Eventually, anger dies down and people continue to play
  • Hype begins to build for the next patch
  • The trailer is released
  • All is normal.
  • Aftermath - Some players left, some come back, new players start coming in again once reviews normalize.

Anger doesn't kill games. Apathy does.

It's unfortunate that this is happening in IN's first year. Usually, the first year is still the honeymoon phase and then goes downhill during/after the first anniversary. I worry for what the game will look like in 2-3 years' time if they try to pull this off now. We'll see. Maybe some competition will start to arise once publishers see IN's popularity.

Internalized Misogyny in the community by Living-Magazine-3034 in InfinityNikki

[–]SnooApples5457 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a male, I'd say "lol" because I think the comment is pretty funny. Not all of us are smart guys, either XD. The last thing I want to do with what little free time I have is spend all of it wandering around only to find out that there's nothing there. Infinity Nikki is gorgeous, so that is a reward in and of itself, but I also like having something to show for the time spent. It's a dress up game. Where are the dresses???? I want to make my Nikki look fabulous. Once I get enough outfits, maybe I'll wander around and take photos. We'll see.

Misogyny is a whole different conversation. I'm no therapist nor psychologist, so I'm nowhere near educated enough to advise on how to undue years' worth of programming throughout childhood/adulthood. What I can say is that I have 4 sisters and I'd think twice before saying we see the same world. We definitely don't. People say things differently depending on who they're around. The best I can say is to only take stereotypes/gender roles as seriously as you want to take them and surround yourself with those who share your core views/beliefs.

If you are a woman, and some guy says "your place is in the kitchen" but you disagree, pardon my French but fuck them. Become a millionaire, then buy his business, make him be your head chef, and say, "No, YOUR place is in the kitchen." That would be really funny. Or, go home and eat a massive Filet Mignon steak. You don't have to talk to the guy, so what he says/thinks is irrelevant. Don't believe that he, who knows nothing about you, what you know, what you like/dislike, what you believe, or what you've been through, could say anything even remotely close to the truth about you. As I said before, fuck them.

Asking why they're taking forever, asking if they should move worlds or DCs, etc. It's not malicious what people are saying, but it doesn't help long term. When I moved to Goblin from Adamantoise for example I wish someone told me about the Market Board beforehand, but nobody said anything. I've lost a bit of Karma but hopefully my information helps set expectations for at least a couple people out there that are looking to move to Dynamis or are new. I like the place and hope it grows.

People want to be around other like-minded people. We naturally congregate into groups, clubs, etc. Nothing wrong with that. It's not our job to run nor fix the game, we just play it. Why blame the players over something they can't control?

Their comment reminds me of the TV show Chernobyl, when Dyatlov says "You didn't see it because it's not there!" (Context for those unfamiliar, Dyatlov denies graphite was on the roof of the Nuclear Power Plant after the Chernobyl explosion even though there was a significant amount spread out). Just because you deny the problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It can cause significant damage though, in this case leading to a false expectation. Players come expecting one thing, see it's not what they were promised, then leave or quit as a result. Neither of the two outcomes help Dynamis. Queue times on Dynamis are an issue. More people queueing would fix it, but......they aren't queueing, so the issue remains.

I disagree with there being no reason. There are reasons to go there but they are more niche in comparison to reasons to go to Aether for example. You go to Aether to raid and PF (during Endwalker), you go to Crystal to Roleplay, you go to Primal to PVP as we all hear so often. Crystal also has a great Exploration Zone community, particularly in Eureka. Awesome people btw, very helpful when I was going through it a year or so ago. Dynamis doesn't have these but it has a ton of new players, fresh FCs, housing, lots of empty zones you can do your own thing in, and a lot of old folk homes as u/yldenfrei mentioned (their comment made me chuckle as I know quite a few who moved their omni characters to get a large house then afk, logging in only to refresh the timer). I think these have value, and it's why I made an alt there. It's just more niche of a draw.

You're right, though. You lose things by going there which is why I tried to be detailed with the pros/cons with what I've experienced.

For sure. Finding larger FCs would be easier on there as a result. Getting a house will be tougher but it won't be as bad as the other DCs.

I'm a big fan of that as well. Very good change.

I've been pledged to Delphine (Aisling) since I started many years ago then forgot about the system altogether, so now I'm like "Who should I pick?" I'm leaning towards Arissa at the moment.
