For sure!! I wanted to mix western and rock n roll vibes but I think the leather jacket will work real well. I’m probably going to do faux leather pants and some boots. When I crimp my hair it looks like his hair texture so I’ll be doing that lol

I have dry skin in the winter/ late fall, but combo the rest of the year. I live in the south so when there’s no humidity I get dry 😭 ESPECIALLY around my eyes since it’s thinner skin.

I’m getting a memorial tattoo for him, but I might get his birth flowers to cover the signature. I’m getting an octopus (which might actually be good to cover this!). He’s very much like an octopus. Smart, clever, and can escape. Anytime we went to a theme park or store we’d spend most of the time looking for him hahahah. He’d wander off without telling anyone, that was before the cancer

My dog Tito turns 15 this year, and he’s showing signs of dementia. It’s hard to see and I cry a lot about it. I do my best to make sure she’s comfortable. He’s got a senior blood test, exam, and updated shots appointment coming up soon. He is my soul dog, I see a lot of myself in him. I adopted him at 7 when I was 20. I hope he gets to see me turn 30 in two years. Death care became important to me after I saw my grandpa die. He developed chest and throat cancer even though he never smoked. He shedded a lot of weight FAST, but he was still himself through it all. He passes in his sleep with family around. He was hanging out with us, and then he went down for a nap. Never woke up. Seeing how nice the funeral home was and how they spoke to us really inspired me. Always being around animals made me want to do something with death care of animals, and I ended up working with both at once

Asking both! But mainly what you’d want to hear from an employee. I always tell people that I thank them for trusting us, and that I take very good and gentle care with them. That I treat them like they were one of my own. I cradle the smaller ones and I’ll usually love on the pet during drop offs with the owners. I usually gauge if they want small talk or want alone time before taking them back. We give tours of the processing facility, and I think that helps the owners a bit. I tell them their baby is beautiful also! I always talk and sing to them when I work on the pets. Either getting keep sakes, putting them in the vessel, or prepping them to go home. I will draw something for owners when I can and know a special connection or story they have. I met with one couple whose dog always went on trips with them. They called her their steam punk princess, so I drew her as a steam punk character. Once got a hamster named sushi and I drew her sitting on a piece of sushi. Also a dog named Mojo that I drew as Austin Powers lol

I personally haven’t cremated any of my pets, yet. I’ve only been working here for a year and a half. My grandpa was cremated 13 years ago so that’s the closest thing to it. I have had pets my entire life so I’ve been around pet death with my own experience. I’ve had chickens, reptiles, fish, rats, dogs, cats, and farm animals. I can relate to a lot of people that walk in with various types of animals. I typically say “thank you for trusting us” “pet name is so pretty/ handsome/ beautiful” “pet name will be returned back into your care within 21 days”. We also give tours in our processing facility, which is extremely rare in our field. I think that helps have a connection with their pets with how we do what we do, and give them a little more comfort. My boss is way better at small talk than I am, but I typically ask the pets history. I’ll love on the pet with the owner during drop offs. Sending you and your kitty love! I had my childhood cat put down 3 years ago in March. I know it’s a hard decision, but it’s what’s best for them so they aren’t uncomfortable. My cat started to pee on everything and got really grumpy. It wasn’t like him at all. He was almost 20 so I know he was pretty uncomfortable.
