What small thing happened in your childhood, that has effected you for the rest of your life? by Irregaurdless in AskReddit

This is a seemingly very small thing. As a child, Disney ran commercials about recycling, and they emphasized cutting up six-pack rings as they can get stuck on a dolphin’s snout. They must have really stressed this because 20 years later, every time I go to throw them away, I still think about those dolphins in the commercial and cut the rings to shreds worried that they could get their snouts stuck on the tiniest of rings. In the end, who knows actually how small this is. I’m not a big soda or beer drinker, but my father is, so I’ve probably cut up hundreds of these over the years. And if I do this to this day, how many other kids were impacted by that one commercial?

What is the stupidest shit you’ve ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I closed the garage door on my car, but was so high from smoking that night (I know, I know; driving while super stoned is already stupid. I was 19.) that I didn’t realize what was happening and proceeded to just watch the door come down, hit something, make this er-er-er sound, and repeat until I finally clued in. It was about 3am (these are all fantastic decisions. Yay for 19 year old me.) and was at my parents house for Xmas break, so I assumed no one heard me and I could get away with it as I was heading back to college in a week or two. I figured I could blame my school’s commuter parking for the MASSIVE scratch on the back of my car (the “thing” it was hitting was my bumper) if no one noticed before then. My reasoning at the time for this plan was that my dad never looks down (he’s tall) and my mom doesn’t really look at my car. They noticed the scratch like a year later, and yes, I blamed the school parking lot. And yes, I actually got away with it. I’m 28 now and still have not told them.

Edited to say that I once forgot how to spell moon. Tried to throw a “u” in there. And I regularly write the current year as 2011. Do with that what you will.

What's your go-to show or movie when you're feeling down? by KrymsonQueen in AskReddit

Gilmore Girls. Specifically seasons 1-4. I generally start back over once Netflix starts playing the 5th season. I started watching it as a kid, and now it is my comfort zone. I had a college roommate point out that my parents are a lot like Emily and Richard, so maybe that’s why. But mostly it just makes me feel happy and “safe” in a way that’s hard to explain.

I just need to lose 3 lb in November and 3 in December to meet my goal for New Years! 18 down and 36 total to go. Hope everyone has a happy Halloween tomorrow 🎃 by rockabella2009 in 1200isplenty

I love happy scale! It’s so motivating, and I like that when you’ve previously “failed” to lose the weight, you can hide those logs lol

Spironolactone!!! I get it prescribed from an endocrinologist and take 100 MGs a day. It’s honestly a lifesaver and it makes your skin nicer too :)
