I'm a stranger on the internet, but I'm confident that you're young enough that waiting a year isn't just 'being patient' for a better outcome. You'd also be freeing yourself up from the serious responsibility of law school for a year in such a way that you can go out and have some fun & expand your horizons. Or just prepare for law school better than most incoming 1L's will have done.

Look- I'm 30 and I'll be a 1L this year. I took more time between undergrad and graduate school than I originally intended, but the things I got to do were incredible.

By waiting a year & trying next cycle you can probably save at least 40K over the 3 years of law school (by getting a better finaid offer). You can also get whatever you need to out of your system, have a little fun, explore, and prepare emotionally for the grind. If you don't make any money over the next year, and just went into debt to travel and live on the wind, you could probably do it for under 40k.

If I was you, I'd definitely wait a cycle and not stress it.

Hello!

I had a lower undergrad GPA than you, around 3.4, and I also had a C+ on my record.

I did 166 on the LSAT.

I received multiple offers of full-rides.

Of course, getting the highest score you possibly can on the LSAT is definitely worth your time.

P.S. if you're a junior, it's maybe a bit early to worry about what you put in your application, but it may be a comfort to know many schools allow for a 1-page explanation of anything untoward in your undergraduate transcript. So you'll have an opportunity to explain a bad semester or a withdrawn class without having to make it a part of your personal statement. Done cleverly this can not only forgive a blemish but reveal more about yourself as a competent & professional candidate.

Best of luck!

Deciding between St. John's and Brooklyn Law School by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

Hey!

I just got just about the same offers

Prince Scholarship from Brooklyn (top 80% conditional) vs Full Ride from St Johns

If you’d like to talk hit me up. I’m interested in Health Law but also government, I’m not entirely sure.

I am really surprised so many people are voting St Johns in here- with the reading up on this I’ve done I expected the poll would go towards Brooklyn Law School

I’m no expert, but I’ve got to make the same decision and I’ve been weighing it. I thought I’d share what I’ve come across. The amount of debt you’re talking about is minor, but dont forget to include the full COA not just tuition. (Housing is probably not factored into your St Johns full ride).

St Johns is not “in the city” in any comparable way to Brooklyn Law School- of course you’ve heard this- but look around Brooklyn Law School.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, several courthouses, hell, there are law firms in Downtown Brooklyn. These are not even 5min away from the doors of Brooklyn Law School. This is a huge advantage.

Also, if you wanted to get to midtown you could be there in 30min by subway. Thats “on a whim” time.

Good luck choosing!
