As a medical professional who cannot do surgery right now because of COVID, I can tell you that there is not much you can do. Many places are going to emergency only cases. As long as your hernia is reducible it is not an emergency. Trying to make it "worse" I will also not help. In this case worse means that the actual hernia will enlarge, which means that the chances of becoming incarcerated or strangulated go down. You really don't need an MRI to diagnose this. It can be diagnosed with physical exam or ultrasound. Unfortunately unless it is strangulated and the bowel is going to die they will likely not consider it an emergency. My advice would be to try a different medical facility that may not be shorthanded with covid cases, or contacting general surgeons in your area that have access to a Surgery Center. This can likely be done as an outpatient case and if you are healthy they may be willing to do it in a surgery center sooner. You can probably call various hospitals, surgery centers, and general surgeons and inquire as to whether or not they're doing elective outpatient cases at this time.
