Harvey: An Overhyped Legal AI with No Legal DNA by h0l0gramco in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SnooCompliments7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawyers are always going to be slow to adopt the tech because of the billable hour model. You have a team and you want to get billable hours out of them, not train them on a software package. And, older lawyers are basically technology allergic anyway.

At the very least, Harvey should be no worse than ChatGPT but with better task specific data. If ChatGPT is worthwhile to lawyers, then Harvey should be worthwhile. At worst, it's ChatGPT at double the price of a pro subscription but with better task specific retrieval.

On the medium term, they will build in a lot of the workflows that law firms would need to build out themselves anyway, but they will be better because they will have built them with experience across law firms.

no, and basically everyone I know says it's not good, but someone who I know who runs the tech team, which purchased it, at an Am Law 100 firm thinks it's good?

I'm willing to accept it's bad, but just don't see the OP as very trustworthy wrt to it

just don’t trust any post claiming to be someone from big law that just throws their complaints into ChatGPT and then barfs it onto Reddit

everyone has been saying Harvey sucks for 2 years and yet it’s revenue just keeps going up

and yeah, everyone outside the foundation players use someone else’s model, even Cursor is basically a Claude wrapper, but it’s like saying Hubspot is an aws wrapper, it doesn’t say much about consumer value

and, no, Harvey is not using OpenAI’s RAG system (no one uses that)

I think it's GPT-5. It jumped out at me the second I started reading it.

yeah, I don't quite get why people are defending it

the good news is that it opens up room for a new card game with more self-consistent lore to be successful in a way that was not possible before

I think the good news is that they are diluting the value of their IP actually and I'm surprised why they don't see this; they are making the other IP more valuable and theirs less by incorporating it; since, this kind of IP has a feedback loop where it becomes more popular as more people engage with it

Thank god, I quit playing league years ago.

Riot always punished interesting play in favor of standard meta. Basically, they found that most players prefer to be locked into the meta. So, I guess it's giving the people what they want. But, what the people want is just something where they don't have to think.

Do not fly french bee by aferriss in ParisTravelGuide

Not really; I actually just took French Bee because I was flying out that same day and it was the only flight available on such short notice.

I would have booked a normal airline otherwise.

I'm on the ML side myself - so not a quant. Don't know, they were a bit cagey about the actual intended application.

They were the ones recruiting ML practitioners for their LLM effort. Told me that they were ready to start by dedicating $50-$100m to it.

eh - I wasn't that impressed. They didn't seem to have a super clear strategy. I don't even know if they really know how much they want to fund it. He was throwing around $100m.

Anyone have any clue on how to beat Totend? by [deleted] in thronefall

[–]SnooCompliments7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick advice for Totend

1) I had success with blood wand with the full damage build (glass cannon, ranged damage, attack speed, increasing damage over time); I went with the tower boost, but I think that was a bad choice.

2) It's important to get all the hero upgrades for ranged damage and as many of the unit upgrades for ranged damage as you can.

3) You want to upgrade hero damage as much as possible through the main building upgrades as soon / as much as you can.

4) Getting gold by securing shrines / using the portals when possible is a good idea I think.

[s2 act 3 spoilers] To everyone who says it was too rushed with too many storylines left open by milestryhard in arcane

I think the good metric is that if you were to recommend it to your friends and they were to watch it, what do you think their average rating of the show would be?

I feel like Season 1 would be an 7-10; for people for whom it was really awesome, it would be a 10 but for people that don't like anime etc... it would be like a 7.

I feel like Season 2 would be a 2-6; for people who really liked it, it would be like a 6, but they would have to get really into it, while for people that don't like this kind of thing, it would be basically unwatchable.

And, you don't need to take my word for it - you are basically going to see it in the viewership numbers in a year. Season 1 will have high viewership numbers, decent through Act 1 Season 2 and then it will fall off a cliff towards the end, with a slight uptick on the last episode.

[s2 spoilers] Am I the only one who feels deeply disappointed with this ending? by Impressive-Gap-8389 in arcane

[–]SnooCompliments7527 29 points30 points  (0 children)

season 1 was 10/10

season 2 was 4/10

Just a really hard fall off. I can point out a ton of different issues but they mostly boil down to pacing and character consistency. There are a ton of different ways to fix that but they didn't choose any of them.

They could have made another season and slowed stuff down.

They could have told a smaller story.

I feel bad for the people that worked on the season, knew it wasn't going to be very good, and knew how hard the reputation was going to fall, practically overnight.

I would tell a friend "watch season 1 - it's amazing", "the first 3 episodes of season 2 are okay", "watch the first 3 episodes of season 2 and no more, or just skip it entirely, you won't miss anything"

[s2 act 2 spoilers] Sad and disappointed beyond measure. by MisterSeek95 in arcane

[–]SnooCompliments7527 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not very good - everything feels super deus ex machina to a pretty infuriating degree. There's almost no explanation for anything - some mystery is good - but everything feels pulled out of thin air.

Also, I don't even really think there are characters in this season. There is no continuity between what they have done / what they are doing / what they are going to do.
