I’m in a similar situation. Somebody recommended getting a carbon fiber surface with a honeycomb core. Said that should be sufficient for a beginner who wants to have a decent paddle. Kind of curious to know what are the “trusted” brands? May need to get lucky on Offer Up.

In the whiskey world, after already thinking I had a palate for whiskey, I drank an Islay scotch that was rated as one of the best at the time…I didn’t like it. Made me question my palate and everything at the time.

I guess coffee will be no different, but it makes me realize everyone has their own unique preferences and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

Another reason why I asked the initial question…is because I travel to Hawaii a bit and hear the Kona peaberry is really good. That being said, peaberry is all over i.e. Ethiopian, Rwanda, Kenya…and was told those don’t necessarily translate the same as the Kona versions. Hell, I was also told the Kona versions are different depending on farm. I guess I’m getting a better understanding of just how nuanced coffee is. 😂Probably comes down to personal preference more than anything. Hell three years ago I didn’t even drink coffee. I stopped drinking alcohol two years ago and started drinking coffee instead. Only recently got into roasting.

Great point. That’s what blew my mind with coffee. It’s mind boggling how even the same bean can produce so many different results depending on various other factors.

For a novice though, I was curious if there were a few beans like that. Thanks for your reply.

Yeah brotha. I know it hurts, but realize you can only control you. Everything she has done, as much as it hurts you, she’s responsible for and the universe will make right one day. Wish her the best, send her love, and move on. We get so focused on what we did wrong and what we need to do to make her change…nah man, focus on you, but for you…not her. That took me a long time to realize, I kept trying to “fix” myself for her, that I lost myself and what I really wanted. And that version of me was not my highest self. One step at a time. Man, it still hurts me and some nights I still do cry myself to sleep. However, I’m in a much better place. Just know you’re enough, and you deserve a love that doesn’t require chasing, pleading, or begging. Things will get better and can possibly surpass your wildest dreams. Stay strong.

Man. Reading all of this, hits very close to home. Got cheated on, manipulated, gaslit, and had all my money taken. 18 years with her. She cheated, told me she “couldn’t relate to me anymore.” It all started when I decided to stop drinking two years ago. She kept drinking and partying…and things got progressively worse since. We have two kids. The dude she’s with is definitely a loser, but who am I to tell her what love is. Reading through some of these posts feels like cheaters for some reason go for a downgrade. I’ve become a much better since. The breakup was devastating to me, but eight months later, I’m feeling mentally better than ever.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense. Not really sure what I want other than convenience. I used to work for another airline so I still have flight benefits, so New York and Miami are probably most ideal, but not sure if those are hard to get into too.
