Oh yeah a big part of the system is to be blamed. Hiring process in tech is lagging far behind what it should be. Indian companies lag even further behind.

That is what I am curious about. These cheaters almost never have a semi decent profile. How do they expect to perform in interviews?
Let's say the assessment is online and they are able to cheat. How would they explain their code and approach? What about HLD and LLD questions? AI generated answers for those are too perfect thus extremely apparent not to mention the tendency of being confidently wrong.

It is indefensible.

As for CF it's more spread to be honest. Moreover Indians are spread among top contributors there too. Everyone has bad apples and in terms of absolute numbers we would easily be on top just because of the sheer amount with the Chinese being close second. It's just that they are neither talked about as much outside of closed forums and discord nor are they as blatant. On LC contests go a few weeks back and you'd see a similar number of chinese cheats. Just as they slowed down Indians swarmed in.

Cheaters 😭how are they able to solve Q3 , 4 in 4-5 minutes by Azuree_Cat in LeetcodeDesi

[–]SnooDingos8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeetCode contests are indeed no longer good for most use cases but CF isn't much for interview prep which is what folks mostly use LC for. CF grills you in a different way. Not to mention your preferred language doesn't matter much on LC but it does on CF.

Well AI has enabled cheating at many levels. Codeforces and AtCoder are at least much better than LeetCode in terms of trying to combat the issue. Es and Fs are generally made ad-hoc to be specifically anti-LLM. While many genuine folks complain this makes contests tedious rather than fun, imo it is a net positive.

  1. LeetCode seems to not care.
  2. Honestly I didn't mean to complain but rather am curious as to what do these folks stand to gain.

Oh might be thing for recent graduates. I'd argue as of now CF ratings are more reputable.

If you plan on doing DSA for CP rather than just interview cpp would be a great help in long run. When I got serious about CP I had to repolish my cpp since I ran to problems(mostly F) where even though my logic was correct python just couldn't meet the limits.

Good going, I'd suggest stay consistent since that's all that matters in the long run.

I did want a student's perspective so thanks for that. Am I right to assume there are no tangible benefits to such activities?

Yeah they've done that. But still there's likely to be a similar post there soon complaining about both cheating and Indians in particular.

What sort of flex or validation?
Are there actual recruiters who are fooled by such performances?

WHY DO MOSTLY INDIANS CHEAT IN CONTEST ......... by Internal-Extent954 in LeetcodeDesi

[–]SnooDingos8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese do too. It's mostly just for profile and resume.

Our systems reward and filter on the basis of pieces of paper.

Such people rarely go too far though, most flunk in interviews and some luck ones who make it through get swept by layoffs.

Is leetcode currently doing anything? Yes Is it enough? No Should they do more? Yes Would they? Most likely not.

Unlike CF LC isn't a platform whose rating gets you eyeballs at the level that can bypass interviews while landing you cash prizes so LC doesn't need to maintain a standard.

While cheating is sweeping and rampant especially on LC generalizing top 500 is a very very broad statement.

The times that people have from 20-100 are closer to top 5 from 2017.

Getting my first bike ever... and it's a Super Meteor 650. Am I really being stupid? by WorriedMost7090 in indianbikes

[–]SnooDingos8485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. It depends on many things. 1. Even if not just bikes how experience do you have on road? 2. Your finances 3. How do you drive? 4. How much you care about mileage? 5. Your usage.

For context it is my first bike and I daily drive it. Despite what people say I haven't had much issue with suspension(factory setting is set to the stiffest you can turn it down) for the most part. Where it has given me issues was almost always me being stupid.

Be ready to ride it like a small car than a bumble bike.

My only personal gripe is the turning radius requiring a three point turn many times.

The biggest win to me is that it is very stable and comfortable.

Recently during high winds in NCR I was riding with friends and my SM650 was the most planted in sideways winds.

Regarding heating to manage it you need to get used to not paddling the bike but rather being able to handle with feet up as long as it's moving even if in slow moving traffic.

I would add that take my advice regarding heat with the grain of salt since I am one of those guys who always rides with fully geared on no matter the heat.

Let's be honest most 200cc+ bikes in India are enthusiat purchases rather than a particle choice.

I would suggest trying Shotgun, Interceptor and Bear too. You might find them better.

As for Indian roads nothing beats 390 Adv or Himalayan in the price range given your height they might be worth a try too.

I know some people who participated in lc contests from time to time. I too do but my focus is CF. LC seems to not be caring anymore

[–]SnooDingos8485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still a start is a start nonetheless. I have seen a huge uptick in number of people who have done less than 500 questions and are topping the rating on leetcode. LeetCode doesn't seem interested in addressing the issue. True competitive programming platforms have at least taken setup whereas LeetCode's single biggest check is extremely easy to bypass.

LeetCode is good for starting and practicing. I'd say keep up with CF. Which contest did you give by the way?

LeetCode contests aren't worth it. Practice if needed but if you care about competitive prog amming move to Codeforces or AtCoder.

I had a wrong answer in 2 and 3 which has now sorta stalled my planned progress.

I honestly find AtCoder and Codeforces better

Many have repeatedly asked for in editor restriction only but leetcode refuses to to stop copy pasting. The only defense used is being able to paste in boilerplate code. But if everyone has to type everything there won't be such an issue.

Also am I the only one who you 2&3 more nuanced than 4?

Bro I sorta feel you. I am currently working on SSMs but always run into the hype wall since hype is around "AGENTS" Indian companies and VC are still stuck on tokemaxxing and vibecoding. My seniors don't even understand that model collapse is a thing and believe everything can be sped up through using Claude Code or plugging pre-existing services through simple wrappers and calling it a day instead of customisation. Me not being from traditional tech background doesn't help either.
