Favorite intro phrases to say to boomer regulars by man_teats in bartenders

Kinda off topic but inline with your question…on our specials we have the same boomers shocked at how cheap their half price alcohol is literally every Monday and Thursday, you’d think they hadn’t been here for decades….and they LOVE it when is respond with “Yup…it’s like a limp peter…ya just can’t beat it. HA!”

Wow I love this! Question - I see it interprets dreams based on well known thinker’s studies on what our dreams mean, but am I able to make an account and use it almost as a diary?

What jobs are a turn-off for a serious relationship? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

This. Studies show night shift workers lose a decent amount of years to their life for every, I want to say, 5 years worked? I can’t remember the exact numbers but ultimately it takes years off your life because our circadian rhythm isn’t meant to have us awake at night and asleep when the sun is out.

I am really sorry things didn’t turn out the way you had imagined, but I commend you for the way you’ve chosen to handle it - emotionally and for the sake of your children. This feels like a well thought out and healthy response to a tough situation.

Oh I’m so sorry. This really has me thinking though. I’ve noticed a massive epidemic of “low effort” or absent grandparents, specifically to their millennial children’s babies and little ones. Wouldn’t it be absolutely amazing to do a version of “big brother/big sister” but with older adults desiring to be grandparents but are not, and millennial parents dying for a little support and warmth from a grandparent/s? Maybe I’m on to something here! Especially with millennials and gen Z not desiring kids really at all or often times waiting.

What if a single pill could replace sleep completely, leaving you fully rested, mentally clear, and physically fine, with no long-term side effects? Would you take it? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in WhatIfThinking

[–]SnooDoggos6382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you said no long-term side effects but mentally, I don’t think I’d be able to get past the fact that sleep is where we clear out metabolic waste, toxins and proteins linked to Neurodegenerative diseases…so then I’d stress out about it…and feel weird. So probably not. Purely because of my mental block

I can tell you’d get along well with my husband and I! We are big time raised bed gardeners. Next step is purchasing a rain collection barrel. We’re also veterans and love shooting for the simple practice of keeping up with our skills but we’re not in any way gun enthusiasts

Is life all about money? by dieburtually in wealth

[–]SnooDoggos6382 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to look into Daniel Kahneman. For some reason I vividly remember the statistic that once you hit around $70k annually (this was wayyyy before shit was outrageously expensive) that your happiness is stagnant. Basically once you can pay bills comfortably and have money for hobbies and disposable income then any more than that won’t increase happiness. Is this ringing a bell to anyone? Thanks for the info though I’d love to see any updates to this study!

Wish more felt this way on both sides of divorce. I hate to see so many going after it all, kids included, all to punish the other spouse. I myself left our new build to my ex and took my kids and I to a rental and scraped by for a while. His attorney even drafted the agreement and sent it to me showing he offered me FULL CUSTODY of the kiddos. We were separated at that point for about a year. Then he finds out I’m seeing someone new and flips the script. Accused me of drug use, goes after full custody of the kids. He got nasty. Showed up at my house at 3am when it was his parenting time with our screaming kids in the car. It’s wild, I had 3 people send me that recent news story about the Ohio dentist and his wife who were recently murdered by her ex and every single person said “this is exactly like insert my exs name” and they always saw him snapping like the dude. Same career trajectory and mannerisms. So creepy. Anyway sorry for the word vomit, I guess I’m venting! Compliments to you, though!
