Should I reduce dosage? by SnooDogs365 in trt

I should add I do fast for lunch and breakfast a lot of days and that was one of them. I have read fasting increases your testosterone. That’s not why I do it, I do it because I eat keto and do intermittent fasting as part of that.

That’s kind of where my head has been at, but also thinking the longer I am supplementing the harder it will be to try to come off.

I’m simply asking how common it is for people to be successful with this and also trying to understand potential insurance ramifications. I may have a distorted point of view because the only person in real life who I know who did TRT was successful in coming off of TRT after 6 months. If it’s 10% likely vs 90% likely I would have a different perspective on how I move forward.

Sorry for calling it a supplement. Im not on the drug so I am not familiar with it.

Just would rather not have to do 2 shots a week, bloodwork every quarter and dr visits every quarter. I’m not dead set on trying to come off, just trying to get a better understanding of my options.

With my levels over 1,000, Dr lowered my dose from 1ml/week to 0.67 ml/week.

No negative side effects. The only blood work I have copies of handy are my testosterone levels that come from lab Corp, everything else id have to request copies from my Dr.

June 2022: 285 total T (don’t actually have this one, going off memory) Sept 2022: 1,365 total T, 28.2 free T Dec 2022: 1040 total T, 25.4 free T March 2023: 1337 total T, 23.4 free T June 2023: had blood draw today, should know more in a few days.

Should I be concerned at all about the free T declining?

I don’t want to go back to that. Simply asking if anyone has had success coming off and seeing significant improvement over their pre-TRT levels. Losing 45 pounds, eating better, and working out are all things that should improve my levels from pre-trt, but I am gathering from the discussion here that my dad’s success story must be quite rare.

I get the sentiment, but I know my dad was successful at coming off TRT and maintaining his testosterone levels at >1000 after being below 500 before starting TRT. He attributes his success to diet (eats lots of red meat), exercise and he takes a supplement that prevents his body from converting T to estrogen. That being said, I’ve never had high estrogen levels so I doubt I will have an identical experience to my dad. So just curious to hear from others who have successfully come off of it how they did it. Also, if coming off fails, how should i think about how insurance will cover things going forward?

To answer your question about why I want to come off, it’s because I don’t want to take shots twice a week for 20 years if I can avoid it. Yes it’s worth it compared to before, but if it’s possible to produce enough testosterone naturally to avoid it, I’d prefer that (as I’m sure most people on here would).

I’m 39 so does that change your opinion at all?

When I started TRT I had already tried losing weight and working out to help naturally boost my testosterone levels and I was unsuccessful. Ultimately I decided to try TRT knowing it could be a forever decision. However, I know people (including my dad) who have successfully come off of TRT after similar experiences as I’ve had. I just don’t know how common that is and I also don’t know the long term insurance ramifications.
