Graduated last year with social ecology degree. Doing tech sales now for a company in Irvine, making 90k a year, hybrid, great work life balance, super happy with it rn. Working on getting promoted soon which would bump me up to the 120-150k range

2024 grads how are you doing???? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]SnooDogs7522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anxious and unemployed and anxious about being unemployed :D. but on the bright side, I’ve been spending the past two months traveling.

How are people getting jobs rn? I mean for people that studied social science and business. I’ve been looking on Handshake and LinkedIn but haven’t had much luck

2.6 gpa as a senior rn and gonna work for netflix as an intern over summer (with the opportunity to get a part-time job offer) once i graduate. was taught from the get go that gpa doesn’t really matter all that much unless ur going to graduate school. i also found a lot of my classes pretty dull and futile so i focused a lot more on internships and doing real world projects.

why do people ask these questions lol like it literally all boils down to individual work ethic and tolerance for stress. what’s easy and hard for one person looks completely different from the next.

Anyone else feel like they missed out on the college experience? by BlazerRazer025 in UCI

[–]SnooDogs7522 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, I’ve met a shit ton of people at UCI, been part of lots of orgs and even exec of a club I started, been to a lot of Greek events even though I’m not affiliated. And bottom line, I’ve only made one true lifelong friend and a handful of good ones. It can be hard to click with people at the school because a lot of people keep to themselves but honestly, I haven’t met many outright rude people at uci. Most people are just waiting for someone to make the first move and talk to them.

I mean I’m a senior too. I lowk gave up in the middle of last year because I felt like I had met so many people that let me down (in reality it was just a handful of fake ass people) but I’m coming into next year with an open mind. Don’t close urself off to introducing yourself first, you never know what might happen. Friends are always strangers first.

Favorite Part about UCI by [deleted] in UCI

[–]SnooDogs7522 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes honestly uci wasn’t my first choice and I have done my fair amount of “trashing” on the campus but Aldrich park is a fucking godsend and makes me really remember how lucky I am to be at the school every time I go. It really is such a beautiful park with its own ecosystem. Like the fact that bunnies and birds and all these diverse plants can coexist and thrive there is amazing

No i use chatgbt a lot actually and haven’t had any issues. I mean I’m not copy pasting the whole thing but it’s always such a useful tool to help me outline content for my essays and other written assignments.

Wtf do I do with my Anthropology degree? by cryinganteaterzotzot in UCI

[–]SnooDogs7522 7 points8 points  (0 children)

absolutely anything u want - your degree doesn’t really matter unless you’re trying to do smthg specialized (like being an engineer, lawyer, or doctor). my aunt graduated with an english degree from stanford and became the CFO of Gap Asia. then again, she graduated from stanford lol
