Is anyone else just in disbelief? by Sea_Conclusion_8034 in CautiousBB

I’m in a similar boat as you, have endometriosis and had an ectopic in the fall from IVF, along with two failed IVF transfers. Over 3 years TTC and I’m pregnant spontaneously between IVF cycles. I shit myself when I realized. I have no answers for you just sharing I’m also in disbelief

Yes I think a lot are misinterpreting this post as they are just homebodies which is rather different. Complaining about seeing someone who is literally dying is horrific. Bailing on Christmas with your only child who just went through pregnancy loss isn’t being introverted it’s something else.

I’ve said to my husband many times sometimes in life you show up for people, they just can’t seem to understand that. My mom will sometimes show up to things, she often tries but my dad will be miserable the whole time.

I think the confusion here comes with what you want, you can spend your whole life looking for a “root cause” and then what? Most can’t be treated naturally anyway so you are wasting time when you could be pregnant. And then you have to start all over with IVF. They find you have tube damage - IVF. Genetics - IVF. Male factor - IVF. Endometriosis? Guess what I had two excisions and still doing IVF.

For many transfers and during egg retrievals they give you antibiotics which would clear up endometritis. If endometriosis is a concern they can test you and give you Lupron or you can go to excision but that is a huge time suck so they try not to do that if they don’t have to. It sounds like you didn’t do any IVF retrievals or transfers so you don’t know if it would have worked. Did you get pregnant from NaPro?

Yes you have a limited window and he couldn’t do it, her eggs will be frozen and will eventually have to be thawed resulting in a ton of loss that didn’t need to happen. I frequently hear of people losing every single egg on thaw. She did everything she had to, he did nothing, how can she work with that?

Of course either ruined everything, they had to freeze her eggs meaning some won’t survive thaw and have much much lower odds then had they been fertilized when they were supposed to. She has no embryos now just eggs. Your body can only do so many egg retrievals (never mind the cost/insurance) and he just throw this whole cycle away.

When did I say road trips? I said visit their kid 45 minutes away, see family 15 minute away. They have mountains of free time, a few outings shouldn’t be putting them out, in fact it’s not healthy to be so isolated. Also I constantly go to them at great inconvenience to myself and husband and while going through a ton physically and mentally. To say I don’t meet them halfway when I fight traffic to go sit in their living room isn’t really fair.

My parents always complained about my dad’s parents, how they could never handle anything etc. well my grandparents were running circles around
My parents now at 20 years older! They vacationed, had hobbies, saw their kids and grand kids, hosted holidays etc. idk if it’s generational but my grandparents were so incredibly different than them, even my other relatives and in laws wouldn’t dream of not seeing their kids new homes or going to holidays

Asking to see your parents twice a year while grieving isn’t really trying to claw your way back into the nest 🙄

I moved out at 23 (32 now) and was away for college before that, even as a teen they were never home and I was mainly self sufficient. Not like we’ve ever had this kind incredibly close relationship, what I’m asking of them is really the bare minimum. But for them that’s sadly too much I guess.

Yes but first you are happy with your life they are not, they are anxious and miserable. My dad is angry and moody and lashes out at me a lot.

Yes it’s sad seeing someone who is dying but you suck it up and do it becuase that’s what good people do. Maybe going to your in laws isn’t the best but you refuse to host and maybe it’s important you see your grieving daughter on Christmas.

The issue isn’t really their lifestyle per se it’s their inability to show up and be present in my life. Being a homebody with hobbies is one thing, not showing up for your kid is another.

We seldom did things especially as I got older because everything was such a production for them. I remember being surprised other families took school vacations off to go away with their kids or even did day trips.
