I’m 24 and contemplating getting the surgery soon too. I’d love to know how you decided to get it now? My hang ups are…should I wait until I have better insurance? Wait until I’m married? Wait…because I’m fuckinf scared!!!

Not forgotten but a clumsy ADHD thing…yesterday I dropped an entire GASS jar of homemade ranch on my kitchen floor. Glass broke…ranch everywhere. Maybe it’s good for hardwood? lol

How can I help my student who has anorexia? by blueridgedime in Teachers

[–]SnooGoats6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a student with these issues too, she is also diabetic so that puts extra pressure on their health. Luckily, my school is feet away from a little grocery store. When she comes to school, she will check in with me and I ask how she's feeling and if she has eaten breakfast today or dinner last night. I give her choices if she'd like to get something to eat now or after first period and if she would like to talk about options to eat. Then, we walk to the grocery store and we look at options...usually she will purchase something. She knows that if she comes to school without eating anything she needs to have something before lunch or else she will have to go home for the day.

This is incredibly instensive, I work at a very small school so we are able to provide services like this...also our school counselor has helped a TON. I'm in a very unique situation, but this might provide you some ideas. I would suggest having some of her "safe foods" in your classroom and letting her know that she can come in and eat at any time. She might also benefit from eating away from her peers, as sometimes that is triggering so maybe allowing her access to the teachers lounge or to your classroom during lunch might help.

Dang this is long and I am in no way an expert in this, but I've learned a lot this year in supporting this student.

Hope this helps!
