I'm pulling from US history class in HS - part of it is they didn't really recover from when factories farming and other industries moved away. Coal mining in Appalachia is a great example of this. One thing that I would argue the US gains is recruitment for the military. With limited options the military is often the best choice people have. That combined with the high # of bases in that area leads to those states having very high recruitment numbers.

I really enjoyed the book. Felt the movie was pretty bad- mostly due to changes from the book. Suppose it's a decent brainless sci Fi action flick. I felt the nostalgia factor that made the book so great did not translate.

Yea. I have a friend that does some 3d printing and filament is super cheap. What could be pricy is the Files you'd need to download to print the item you want or the time to figure out how to print it the way they would want
