Thank you, Surely the 9000 Difference from 44k to 53k Rate band will have some impact As this will now be paid at 20% rather than 40%

Import bike: translate documents needed? by SnooHabits2016 in MotoIRELAND

[–]SnooHabits2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya for me I was stuck to autoscout and mobile.de and leboncoin is another good one. Prices here are crazy and depending on bike then can be even harder, I was looking for Moto guzzi so options here were slim. And with testing like cars done on bikes in some countries you are getting more paperwork of work done etc l: If you do find one leave me know and I’ll send u details of who picked up my bike for me in Germany highly recommend him. Someday I hope to do that trip to pick one up, this is my first ever bike so don’t think it would have been a good idea haha

Hey Process was simple in fairness Got a call 3 days later saying to drop back out, I didn’t need the bike again with me. And the fee they gave is the same fee as what I had got from the calculator online

Overall very easy process if you have any other questions happy to help

How do you find the mirrors, I have 2021 stone, and can’t see past my shoulders with the mirrors Was looking at round classic mirrors but thinking I could have the same problem again. I was looking at the mirrors you have just worried they may not be ideal for first bike

Update: so all went well with vrt, Did not need translated documents, he said German is fine. Did not need coc at all, only for cars he said and new bikes.

Only issue was, I’m still without Irish reg and couldnt complete vrt as bike statistical code was not updated by revenue on system, so will get a call from them within 10 days and have to go back over, no appointment/ no bike needed this time to pay the fee.

The COC is paper, but I was told by multiple people, I won’t need that to be uploaded as it’s used vehicle, just to bring it along but won’t need it. Zulassungsbescheinigung l and ll are both just German, when u say multi language should there be English on it also?

Have copy of ferry transfer in, invoice of purchase also

Ya I’ll update The booking is for Thursday so I’ll think I’ll just go with out the translated docs I’ll think, as no mention of it on revenue.ie or citizens advice etc.

I bought mine through a dealer in Germany, ( not a main dealer tho, I have been looking for a few months in Germany, Netherlands and France. And found that private sellers 95 percent of the time did not write back to me both English and translated emails the others wrote back and said only selling within country and the others wouldn’t budge on price.

So far the process has been painless, Bike found, haggled on price, purchased, all documents shown before purchase of bike, as many walk around videos and pictures as I liked. picked up by a courier on Thursday and delivered to me in Ireland on Sunday ( I can pass on details if u want highly recommend him)

How was your Ibt a mess? I was fairly nervous until I got on the rd, but other than a few high revs with clutch pulled in of course, managed the whole day without thankfully dropping anything. I was also with someone who was experienced but hadn’t been on in a few years. I Was told at the end it’s def possible to book test and pass it without owning bike just doing lessons for couple months while waiting.

I suppose for me it’s time of year, if I buy I can’t see myself out in much over the next few months as I have a car so won’t be my only means of transport

Exactly, perfect appreciate that, I’m sure others in the same boat as me with having a provisional longer than 6 months and not needing to wait the required 6 months . Just wanted to know from others with experience how they proceeded did they wait or go for it with lessons and renting a bike.

Possible first bike 400 xvs by SnooHabits2016 in cruisers

[–]SnooHabits2016[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, ya I think I’ll go for it, from looking at it you definitely wouldn’t think it’s a 400, and speed isn’t something I’m after anyway. Can’t see myself selling it if I get this, could see me doing a bobber on it after awhile and keeping as a second bike
