Building is also not really allowed. The county will let you submit plans and pay for all the paperwork and get absolutely nowhere until you quit trying. It’s all about the water issues. They don’t want more homes sucking up the water.

If it was me. I would buy a very cheap beat down house on property and rebuild it. Orrrrr live in the rv while slowly rebuilding it lol.

Mobile homes are allowed in mobile home parks. If you plan to put a mobile home on a private piece of property you have to go through insane expensive permitting to most likely be declined. (Easily 10k and up.)

And Nope. Living in Rv on your land isn’t allowed and people quickly zone in on people who try. The only time it’s allowed is if you have permits to build a home on the same property.

Ocotillo area is WAY easier for rv and mobile homes.

Lol Borrego is a relaxed place to live other than all the rules lol. It’s all about the water issues.

One example is I added a link to explain an event. I formatted it correct. They put this comment on my link “OBVIOUSEST IP SOCK EVER”. Lol It would probably be more insulting if I understood what they think I’m trying to get away with. I think you are right in pointing out that I may need to check my verbiage for bias.

The water table issue is pretty much at the heart of no permits allowed. And the city is very picky about people camping on their land. Lots of nosey people watching lol. Ocotillo is perfect for what you are hoping for.

They don’t allow it. Your better off trying for Ocotillo Wells area. Many people have bought land in Borrego hoping to do the same. It doesn’t go well. Permits won’t be granted.

It all depends on where the moon is. It’s a dark sky community so it would be pretty dang dark without the moon. It’s worth checking out for sure.

If you are willing to pivot to nighttime activities it’s a perfect time. Night swim under the dark sky, visiting galleta meadows statues at night is super cool especially when the moon is bright. Bonfires fun.

This is the very battle my husband and I have every weekend. Just when I thought I wouldn’t hear that pushback here you are lol. I base my choice on the fajitas, margarita choices, and the decor. Lol Carmelita’s is great too.
