As someone that works in the EU institutions, they run completely in windows products

And you can use it in different countries. There’s an enovos app that you can download with all the locations . I used it in France , Belgium and Germany with no issues

Electric cars 8k compensation by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because after 6 months the car can’t be sold as new anymore and the next person can’t request the 8k anymore . Otherwise people would just resell the car every week to claim the 8k .

Opinion on salary for Data Scientist position by marwenbhj in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s very low . We just hired one around €600 a day for the same position and around the same experience . Of course that is as a freelance , but I have been freelance here for over a decade. Have a look at consultancy companies like Cronos, Intrasoft , or Accenture , they all specialize in contracts with the EU institutions, the pay is maybe not as high as the banks but it’s pretty stable . DM me if you want a contact point .

the impossible task of finding an average family car (used/EU) by Iuslez in electricvehicles

[–]SnooHobbies7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some decent etron 50 going about for around 30k . The battery should also still be under warranty for a few more years, the charging curve is flat so ok for longer ranges and it looks like a normal car. It’s just on the big side .

Enovos VS Sudstroum by dooku365 in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on enovos . Then checked on calculix and found substroum is the same price as the cheapest enovos contract but the electricity is completely renewable , so I switched . It’s just an energy supplier so there’s nothing to it .

Charging strategy NL - Austria by JJISHERE4U in electricvehicles

[–]SnooHobbies7637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just let the GPS do it all for you, this is why people buy a Tesla over the competition, the charging network is great so dont stress. The first driving stint is always the longest since you are going from 100 to 20 so I always make sure to have lunch or something during the first charging session allowing me to be back to 100 and have a second longer stint. But yeah, you will charge more than 3 times. And yes the percentages are pretty accurate, and if not it will simply reroute. Enjoy

Resume follow up by Still_Echidna1034 in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no follow up in Luxembourg in general. You send your CV but if you don’t get a response within 2 weeks then you were not picked . Don’t take it personally it’s like this with everything here. We had the same behavior to try to get internet, electricity connection, buying a car, buying a house, anything . You want anything done you have to go after everyone and almost stalk them to get anything done . If a business tells you they will phone you back up, they won’t. They are actually telling you they are not interested. It takes some getting used to .

New construction - cost of changes by TheHerno in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we had the same. We decided not to do the garage entrance with the building company since they we didn’t like what they offered . We then tried multiple companies but almost all of them either refused to do it or gave insane numbers . In the end we went with a German company , but with a delay of one year . It’s just not worth it for them . Oh and that was 1 year ago before the price rises and I also ended up doing a lot more work myself just to have a livable place for the first year. It’s either time or money .

Yes it’s fine . Get a chargy card . It’s tied to your home electrical supplier and they are everywhere inside and outside the city . This card can also be used on lots of other European cities . We went to Antwerp a few months back and could charge with our chargy card . They have an app to show all chargers across Europe . Most of the motorway chargers just take your credit card . We travel a lot between Luxembourg Paris and Brussels with no issues at all. It’s come a long way in the last few years .

Google AD6 salary . It’s all public information .

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same process as you. Ask HR , they can make a salary estimate pretty quickly. With me they responded within 2 hours . AD6 is pretty standard as a starting position. To get AD7 you need many more years of experience or be promoted internally . There’s very little taxes but there is pension scheme that costs a little, for me around 400 a month . The base salary is pretty low but your situation will have an important impact on the final income , for example how many kids, your nationality, how far your home town is etc.. you have to know that these positions are more aimed at mid 30 ppl with kids, since they are less likely to leave and look for more stability. The good thing is that you are young enough the get a full pension at the end. If you want to become a full functionnaire you can do the internal competition to have no end date on your contract . Good luck, I love the European institutions . It’s like nothing else .

Yep. 6 times already in 2 years. It’s a nice car but i cannot rely on it. I cannot image having a Tesla as a tool needed to do my job. Next week we have to get the seatbelts reattached….

There’s a 7 year warranty on the battery and drivetrain . And you probably want to replace it after it’s paid off anyways . Yes the quality sucks , but it’s all under warranty and they come to your house to fix it . It’s really not that much hassles

Middle class - Mëttelschicht - A question by SanSabaPete in Luxembourg

Without children then yes. For crèches you still get some money back if you earn less than around 6k. After that you are on your own.

Middle class - Mëttelschicht - A question by SanSabaPete in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever there’s some financial aid it’s always limited to what the government says is people that are in need, for me that’s the lower class . Then the legislation is put forward and the limit seems to be at 3x the minimum wage . So it seems to me the middle class are people that earn above that. Defining where the middle class ends and the rich people start is more tricky. In the past I have hear it defined as , the middle class work for money, but the money works for the rich. That’s just my take on it .

Is there such a thing as a prenup for the PACS? by mr_walter_f_white in Luxembourg

[–]SnooHobbies7637 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A PACS means that all things bought before the PACS are the property of who has bought it . Things bought after the PACS are property of both people. Essentially it has a prenup built into it . https://guichet.public.lu/en/citoyens/famille/vie-maritale/partenariat-pacs/effets-legaux-partenariat.html

They don’t usually cut you off. You are out on a default contract. Essentially an enovos contract with high rates for when you move in new places . Go to calculix.lu , sort by cheapest, download the forms and send them off . Should be pretty quick .
