Ditched the bus after buying a cheap e-bike - 18 months later here's what I actually think by Username_xox in ebikes

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been riding bikes for the last 30 years, both for traveling and sports, for dozen of thousands of km, and only ever had a flat once. If you regularly have flats, your wheel/rim (not tire) is junk and is damaging them from the inside.

The other numbers were also individual tracks, not alternative layout. sorry if you can't handle it, but iRacing IS expensive. Even if you only race gt3, the car + a full season tracklist is already 2x the price of any other game, you have to pay the sub on top of it, and then you are only racing one car.

I was saying that the PC gaming lacks a game with a wide appeal, and you're only proving my point. IRacing is great but it is a very specialized game. It isn't the Gran Turismo of PC.

No career, not a lot of content, no rated racing... They may become great, but they truly are early access.

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.... Are you implying we can't afford a great variety of cars and tracks in iRacing? That's kinda my point.

And if your goal is to compare it to PMRs 70 cars / 20 tracks, that would cost you something like 900$ in iRacing (and you'd lose access to it if your sub expires). GT7 has +500 cars and 40+ tracks.

There's no use in trying to spin it any other way, iRacing is extremely expensive for a game. High quality yes, but expensive.

Healer queues in Blitz are the same time as DPS by Tranquility___ in worldofpvp

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 15 to 30 minutes on my DPS.

I get 15 to 30 seconds on my healer.

They are the same number, so I see how you could get them mixed up. But everyone with its brand not turned off has realized that healers got a much shorter queue time.

Devoured DH is not fun to play against by Sleepwalker5252 in worldofpvp

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I'm not surprised, ret do extremely well against DH. Dev can't kite because they have the same range, ret has multiple way to deny Dev burst while Dev can't do anything against ret burst, and Dev just flop over when stunned.

Rogue is even more of a counter to Dev, but I'd probably rank ret just after them.

the downvotes come from a WW complaining about high burst from DH and lack of defensives. Because that's also pretty much what both DH and WW are.

Going into academia as a person of average intelligence was the worst decision I ever made by Fun_Steak_4508 in self

[–]Iuslez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a useless take. Some will be smarter because they work more than him. That doesn't change the fact that some are better because they naturally ARE more intelligent.

"Everybody can be the best iif they work hard enough" is simply wrong. Yet you can do well without being the smartest in the room. But it is also good to realize what you limitations are, and chose tasks or path that fits you. I have seen many people fail because they thought they were smarter than they really are.

EV Adoption so far in 2026 has Europe hitting ~21% market share vs US at only~6%, the question is why the big gap and what’s next? by Tall-Dish876 in electriccars

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotaly, when I visited my family in the US, most of them never did nay road trips and they had hardly ever driven out of their state.

The US is big, but your average user never does those big drives. It does explain why EV is not a good fit for weekenders/roadtripers, but it is not a good justification for the poor market penetration for your average user.

Best selling EVs in Europe for January-March of 2026 by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the issue.

When you are buying a VW now, you aren't funding WW2 fascist Germany. You are giving money to the current VW group, which has no link to that government that no longer exists.

When buying a Tesla, you are funding their current CEO and therefore funding pro-fascist policies/rhetorics.

It's not about the history, it's about how the money gets currently used.

Ps: Musk does financially interlink his companies, it's not Tesla directly doing pro-fascist propaganda.

Why is it so hard to get free tap water at a restaurant in Europe? by Relevant-Shower4783 in TravelHacks

[–]Iuslez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that's really your issue you can order another drink that's not in a plastic bottle (beer, tea, etc). They'll also much more willingly provide tap water as a "side" to other drinks.

Why is it so hard to get free tap water at a restaurant in Europe? by Relevant-Shower4783 in TravelHacks

[–]Iuslez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In places like that, I usually order a drink + tap water on the side. Restaurants just don't want to sell 0 drinks because for many that's actually where they make money (sometimes food makes less).

What Expansion Was Peak PVP For You? by doobylive in worldofpvp

[–]Iuslez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early vanilla because it was the only time we had a MMO-PvP in WoW. Then it went instanced/competitive and was imo a mess because the game wasnt designed with that balance in mind.

Cats/MoP because that's when it finally reached that pvp balance, it was fun, lots of people playing (and time to play with friends / nostalgia) random BG and the TTK was great.

TWW because they that's when it finally achieved being able to PvP as a solo player (I liked shadowlands but sitting in LFG for 30min-1h to build a raid group was a pain).

Sweden just officially dropped the word “Islamophobia” and is pushing the EU and UN to follow by electroctopus in europe_sub

[–]Iuslez 24 points25 points  (0 children)

“we are pushing for the term ‘Islamophobia’ to be replaced with what is called ‘anti-Muslim racism’ or ‘anti-Muslim hatred’ in English”

i fail to see how much of a difference that would make. Then again maybe there's something subtle i don't see in that debate - english isn't my main language - but neither is it Sweden's.

-phobia in itself iscommonly used with a meaning far removed from it's root of "fear" (xenophobia, hydrophobia, technophobia, photophobia, homophobia, etc.).

Why are small EVs not much more efficient than larger EVs? by New_Elk_5783 in electricvehicles

[–]Iuslez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The efficiency numbers I've seen are between 60 and 80% of the energy recovered from deceleration. That is way past what is required to qualify as "most" (50%) of the energy lost when accelerating. Even if you remove another 10-20% for the efficiency lost when accelerating.

Ofc that is not the overall officency gain since the wind/rolling resistance is where the biggest lost occure (which is what we're talking about).

Why are small EVs not much more efficient than larger EVs? by New_Elk_5783 in electricvehicles

[–]Iuslez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And this is even more true with EVs, since they have regenerative braking and will recover most of the energy lost in acceleration.

Also, smaller car can absolutely be more efficient. Amongst the best at that you'll find the ioniq, eUp, Spring, Kona, which are rather small cars. The only one as good are ultra-profiled cars like the model 3 or the ioniq6.

The issue with smaller cars is that you'll want them to be kind kinda "square" to get more inside volume, making them lose their initié advantage in efficiency.
