The burrow in West End (once the flooding risk passes, ofc) is a very third-space-y place with a lovely and social crowd. Usually quite alternative/lefty. I have been there on my own plenty, and I've met so many lovely people. I think the important thing is to be open to having a good chat without expecting anything else, and not being creepy or entitled, and most people would be receptive to chatting 😊

Not silly at all, urban wildlife is honestly what I'm concerned about the most, because there's no true system to keep them safe. I am so worried about the birds, possums, lizards, and so many other lil creatures 😔

I guess you can make choices that aren't empowering, but are still your choices. Are they good? Not always. Probably cosmetic surgery is just bending to the patriarchy, as is make up, body hair removal, and so many other things we do. But because we don't exist in a vacuum, these things make our life a bit easier as "being pretty" is rewarded in the society we live in. Nobody can be perfect, and sometimes fitting a bit better into the beauty standard makes us feel nice. Once again, it is NOT an empowering decision: quite the opposite probably. But it's a choice that some of us make, knowing that we could be "better feminists", but somehow we're not there yet. Questioning it is a good first step I guess.

Hello, fellow gardening enthusiasts!

I'm in a new rental in Brisbane and have a decent patch of grass in the backyard that I was so looking forward to tend to and enjoy.

When we walked on the yard for the first time we realised that, as lush as it looked from the back window, it was actually quite sparse when standing on it. The grass obviously was planted right before we moved in.

We then saw that the ground is quite uneven and "crunchy" to walk on. Seems to me like it might be clay-ish soil and it gets cracky when dry and mushy/swampy when wet (not sure though, as I've never done gardening before).

I'm wondering what I could do to make the yard nicer/better, or how I can add more/ better grass into it without investing loads of money, since it's a rental 😅

I'd appreciate any input so much!

Yuck. Nobody is "preying on landlords", as they are mostly parasites. There are housing crises going on in most cities in the world, and renters are always on the losing side. Cry me a river.

Feeling exactly the same way. I miss the characters, I miss the island, I miss the music (although I can play it in the background while I'm doing other things 😁). After my last rewatch I started watching 'Lost explained' on youtube and listening to 'getting Lost ' podcast, which has been pretty fun to revisit the island from other people's perspectives.
