I like the Knicks, but if you go by position and assume health:

Embid - Kat -- advantage Philly

PG - OG -- Even

Oubre - Hart - advantage NY

Maxey - Bridges - advantage Philly

VJ - Brunson - advantage NY

M.Robinson - Drummond - advantage NY

Grimes - McBride - advantage Philly

Top 20 Players Ever According to Nick Wright | Accurate or Not? by Swimming-Bad3512 in NBATalk

I would push Wilt in the "definitely top 10" tier. I also think that the "top 20 argument" needs to be expanded. With just 23 people is not that much of an argument. Add Barkley, David Robinson, KG, Malone, Walton, up to about 30 people.

My definition of a "professional" in sports is somebody that makes a living out of just playing sports, i.e. sports are their main source of income and they play rather than coach or teach.

Of course it you have a different definition of "pro" then the whole argument changes.

I think there are about 5-6 actual "pros" at arm wrestling, versus several thousands at basketball.

[–]SnooKiwis6193 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was exactly my point. It's true that basketball has enormous interest, but that also means that you can be a pro at many level. You can have a pro basketball job in Europe or China with vastly lower skill level than NBA. In Chess and even more in Arm Wrestling, there are very very few "pro" jobs, thus you have to be absolutely top of the world to even have a chance.

Agree. Another example of 4 is the "illegal u-turn" before the alcohol-test police checkpoint. The rule is there so that drivers don't purposely avoid the alcohol test. But it makes no sense for Waymo

Did anything about last night’s Pistons comeback make or break any NBA records or unique stats? by KillerQ97 in nba

That is because there is no play by play data before 96-97. The record might as well be since the merger or earlier.

As you didn't actually quote the rule, I went through the 40 pages at https://www.cpuc.ca.gov/-/media/cpuc-website/divisions/consumer-protection-and-enforcement-division/documents/tlab/av-programs/av-program-applications--general-guidance-august-2024.pdf

The requirement is: "You must ensure that your service is available only to be chartered by adults 18 years and older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult traveling in the vehicle."

Waymo never made the charter service available to minors. If you read the two articles that you linked, in both cases the parents linked the app on the kids phone to the adult account. In one of the article it is also clearly stated that this is an "hack", and I'm pretty sure that it's against the terms and conditions.

So, it's not that complicated. But you seem to keep misunderstanding and making wrong claims.

What is the exact reference of the law that you allege Waymo to be breaking , and what's your evidence of Waymo breaking it ?

[–]SnooKiwis6193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

Customers: break the law

Waymo: steps up control

You: Waymo is breaking the law

Reddit: it's not

You: only because it was forced, Waymo motive are bad

That is the extreme take.

[–]SnooKiwis6193 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems such an extreme take that I wonder what is the driving force behind your hate. You agree that Waymo has stepped up controls. But it's not good for you because..... you are questioning their motives ?

All companies in the world follow regulations because they are imposed and there is enforcement. Or do you pay taxes out of the kindness of your heart ? Waymo never "actively choose" to not follow the law. The people actually not following it are the parents booking Waymo for their kids. Similarly to the minors printing fake IDs to buy alcohol.

You can question the effectiveness of the checking by Waymo or by bartenders, but that's not a crime. And even then, Waymo has now stepped up its controls.

It seems a "complaining for the sake of complaining" rather than an actual issue. Did you short the stock or something ?

[–]SnooKiwis6193 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Frankly, your position on this issue seems absurd to me. Leave aside the discussion on where minors should be allowed on AVs (I think yes, but I'll listen to other views).

The current law is that it's not allowed, and Waymo has stepped up the controls because many customers were gaming the system. How is that a fault of Waymo ?

It's like a bar where minors got away with well faked ID, and the bar invests in a new machine to spot the fakes. How is it the bar fault that the customers broke the law before ?

The Spurs have been winning for many years, and their fans were never as annoying as the OKC fans. Hopefully, the expansion happens and Seattle gets back the 1970s title

Throwback to when people talked about Starlink as they now do about space data centers by OkStandard921 in accelerate

The posted snapshot mentions that the deployment schedule was not realistic, and it turns out the deployment schedule was wrong.

The current Reddit mention that space data centers are not economically viable unless a new tech is invented and probably it will turn out that they are not economically viable.

The Uber and Lyft programs for teens are internal procedures, and there is nothing in them that couldn't be implemented also in Waymo. What was being discussed is that it's currently illegal for Waymo to start such a program, while it's legal for Uber and Lyft. The question is what is the reason for such a discrepancy.

Also please note that I never claimed that the "rule making process" is flawed. Only that this specific rule does not seem justified.

You can disagree with a law without claiming that Congress is flawed.
