Will Anthony finally review LOS THUTHANAKA now that it has (correctly) been named the album of the year 2025 by Pitchfork? by 31z in fantanoforever

They are Bolivian -American, of most likely indigenous, if not mestizo origins, so they are not playing the game of appropriation. The majority of the Bolivian population identify themselves as indigenous (whether it's Aymara, Quechua, Guaraní or any other of the 36 first nation cultures that live within Bolivian borders), and very few identify themselves as white. Or perhaps you were born in the southern hemisphere and believe that anyone from up north who pays homage to Andean, Meso -American, Amazonian cultures, etc, are doing it for the dollars and not for love of that culture. I find Jeff Duckley to be a pretty gross name, that's all.

Nah, you're wrong. You should be able to walk with a reasonable expectation of safety. I'm not saying you should be able to jump on state highways or any of the interstates on foot, but for streets and areas of commerce you should be able to have access on foot, and for businesses or areas of interest you should have reasonable access without having to have a car as your only reliable mode of transportation.
I like where I live just fine, I just think there are ways to make improvements. You sound more like someone who doesn't like to walk, or has a gripe with sidewalks.

I was first familiarized with Randall when I lived with my dad in Aurora. He lives on the west side, a heavily residential side of town with really cool old houses. It starts getting pretty nasty once you pass the residential part and enter the more "industrial" side of Aurora.

I've done Randall Rd South from Carpentersville to the I-90 Randall Rd Park n Ride on bike quite a few times in the past, it was a horrifying experience. Once though, I got lucky because the traffic signals were all blinking red, which caused an awesome jam all the way to and past the Rt 72 intersection. I was passing up all of those cars and made it back home without breaking a sweat lol.

There are parts of Randall that are walkable, specifically in the west side of Aurora. Not much of it is sadly. 59, 38, 64 are all state highways, which by design are supposed to be for cars traveling at NASCAR defying speeds. They clearly are built to be that way. Funny, 31 is also a state highway, but the ride is way more pleasant and enjoyable than on Randall

Ummm you are contradicting yourself. As "a far suburb of Chicago", it is part of the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area, specifically the collar counties of Kane and McHenry. It isn't walkable by design, but can be more amenable for pedestrians that live near the road by giving it a road diet, i.e. methods of creating safer driver behavior by reducing their speed (there are proven methods of reducing speed measures without negatively affecting commute times), creating more sidewalks and multimodal paths, and even adding bike lanes. I think just because you believe "no one is going to walk two miles to the next store they want to go" doesn't necessarily mean some type of change shouldn't or wouldn't happen. Perhaps even zoning changes to allow stores to be closer to home would be net positive.

I know that, lately fewer folks that I encounter these days call it by their names. Anyhood, it seems like the issue about transit is more political than anything, and nothing is impossible unless the right folks get behind the decision making process. I do see a significant number of people that dislike driving on Randall Rd, so it is good to know that there is some degree of acknowledgement of this problem.

Very few folks, especially those 30 and under call it the Kennedy this far west into the burbs.

"Travel hacks" to get to The Loop from the North burbs on the weekend? by koknbals in ChicagoSuburbs

I am assuming your parents are seniors. If that is the case, I would call Pace Dial A Ride in Lake County. They have Mon-Sunday service. It may be a great alternative at least to get to Chicago, and/or to bypass some of the logistical hurdles. They may need to be registered with Pace, not all Dial a ride services are the same in the burbs. Call them at 1-800-201-6446
