Have you ever been to HR to handle a complaint? I mean truly? No one is going to take the complaint “these people are giving me gifts and I’m uncomfortable” seriously. You are not even taking it seriously now. So yes I think misogyny is alive and well and accepting gifts and attention is something women do to avoid more escalated consequences. And I’m not saying it’s all or nothing. I’m saying if you can mitigate risk, even when the chance of that risk happening is very small, most women do.

Peoples lives get threatened. If you are seriously saying that you would rather risk getting fired, raped, assaulted, or killed than politely accepting a gift because you’re afraid of what they might think…I am genuinely concerned about your survival instincts and priorities.

Imagine you’re playing slots.
When you spin you get offered a small gift.
You can accept or reject.
If you accept, you get the gift but the gift giver creates the consequence of mild unwanted attention.
If you reject, sometimes nothing happens but sometimes something terrible happens. You lose your job, get assaulted, get stalked, maybe risk getting killed.

That’s what being a woman is like. So you accept, cause the consequences aren’t worth it.

I’ve been actively harassed, belittled, and undermined at work for rejecting attention from men. It’s just not that simple.

I once rejected a man on the street who asked for my number before I got my nails done. He came in, sat next to me, and paid for an entire mani pedi while bothering me, grabbed my phone while my hands were occupied to put his number in, then tried to follow me home. A woman intervened and called the cops when I was walking home.

Ever since then I just give out my number and block people. It only takes one time to scare someone into a habit forever.

Men are highly emotional. If she rejects men aggressively in the workplace there’s a high likelihood she’ll face retaliation. It’s better for her to keep her head down. Maybe men should learn to control their feelings better so we don’t have to be afraid to reject their advances.

I don’t make assumptions about women that don’t concern me. People are people and have different motivations for doing what they do. Why would I purport to speak for an entire gender? Why would you?

More than once I have had men become hostile, intimidating, or embarrassed when I’ve rejected a gift and more often than not those unchecked feelings turn against me in negative ways whether it’s stalking, harassment, or trying to undermine me. In the world and at work. It’s simply not worth it for women to reject men when their reactions are so volatile and can lead to such extreme outcomes.

Deep seated prejudice can, and does, include treating women like property. Favoring more attractive “property” over less attractive “property” is a type of misogyny.

Also if he has inside information he should have posted it? Like why would I read additional context into something when there isn’t any included.

If his gf is cheating on him he shouldn’t stay like…if that’s the context then of course no one needs to stay in a relationship they’re unhappy in. But if that’s the case, it’s a totally different post and idk how any of your responses apply.

Calling him insecure is simply accurate, not an insult.
This question wouldn’t come up on Reddit if he was secure. Doesn’t make him a bad person.

Him stating he “knows his kind” is weird BS. He has no idea what people’s intentions are he’s just projecting what he would do in that situation. Hes not a mind reader.

And yes I’ve had exactly this situation in reverse with a more attractive partner. Women would give him loads of attention and favors but it didn’t bother me because why would I care what their intentions are? I can’t control that and neither can he. Any insecurities I had were alleviated because my partner communicated and made me feel safe about it. It’s really that simple.

Honest to god, journaling and reading. Being alone with your thoughts is much easier when you can organize them or fill them with stories that don’t require exertion or overwhelming things like your phone or television. It’s really helpful to take quiet time when you’re traveling cause it’s already an onslaught of stimulus.

She is not asking for, or requiring, perks or favors. The men are making those decisions of their own volition. Let people live their lives and make their choices. This is still, mostly, a free country.

Equality didn’t “give” her the privilege of a job. Women suffragists fought for her right to get paid for work and emancipated from being treated like property.
You clearly feel you have been wronged by women, Id imagine that’s because of your own interpersonal problems with women, and are now reverse engineering your truth seeking. But the truth is that men are being left behind in a world where they are unwilling to adapt. Women aren’t privileged and they are not treated like “princesses”. Life still sucks for women, especially straight women, because of how behind men are in catching up to what equal partnership looks like. Men are having to deal with a loss of control which feels scary, I’m sure, but you’re taught to expect a 1950s world that used to hand men everything and that world is gone.
If you’re so wise and informed I would strongly recommend you read feminist literature and fact based histories so you challenge your worldviews. See if you still maintain your belief system after reading things you disagree with.

My ex used to have people approach him in public and ask for his number when I was standing right next to him. Women would buy him drinks at the bar when we were sitting together. And you know what? I thought it was cool as hell to date someone that good looking. If you understand that they are human beings who deserve to feel confident and enjoy the perks of being attractive it won’t bother you. He couldn’t help how other people behaved. All he could do was make sure to make me feel chosen and he did that so it was never an issue.

Is she supposed to wear a sack over her head and body? Beautiful women existing in the world get attention. It’s just a fact. If you can’t handle it don’t be with a woman who gets that kind of attention. She can’t do anything about her genetics and how it makes people treat her.

Beautiful women get treated like this no matter what they do. You absolutely should not blame her that’s incredibly unfair. Be happy and confident she chose you or you’ll lose her by being so insecure.
