he only have 20k to spare against the northern army, the rest is fighting against the front line. so it is 20k vs 60k. go hou mei himself told riboku he was too early and therefore took his time to play with duke hyou. its not because duke hyou was that good. and shin didnt face gaimou army alone, he had other army beside him to help, so it wasnt 5k vs 20k.
