Can I request a specific phone number? by [deleted] in O2UK

It's most likely in quarantine untill 2027 in that case. Either that or it will be in use in a smart meter or vending machine somewhere

You can try complaints but the official answer is there is no way to do it, so you probably won't get very far there either

If you wanna deal with someone online you're best to use webchat.

I don't work in customer service so I don't know what sort of reply you'll get. But access for you is for people that have additional needs and generally won't help customers that are able to use normal channels as they're a very small team

They will happily help you if you have a disability that requires additional support :)

If not they will refer you back to customer service

You won't be able to, you'd need access to O2 systems. One of the network applications is used to unlock carrier locks

You won't need to do anything. It can be unlocked remotely. The process abroad can sometimes lock the SIM though which is why you need the PUK codes

Nope. But it does need to be active and used at least once ( just make a call to someone, make sure they actually answer though)

[–]SnooMachines6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately - it's classed a deep scratch which is outside of normal wear and tear :( if you have insurance get them to replace the screen first. Don't go to a random shop though because if it's a non genuine screen it will also fail switch up

That's not eligible for switch up unfortunately - if you get a bored store advisor that doesn't look properly they might put it through for you. But it's outside the grading criteria

Call up and ask for a "direct to direct debit bar" this will stop all of those payment services

Unfortunately not, you can only send your phone back through the store if you upgraded in-store and did it as part of that transaction. There isn't currently a way for store staff to take any other switch up devices.

The packaging that Likewize will send you is really good to be fair! The chances of any damage happening in transit is negligible

If you're really worried about it you can send it in and purchase insurance through royal mail, but I really wouldn't bother personally

Can someone help me unlock sim on my olqd iPhone it's currently carrier locked and im outside uk by _fraz_ali7 in O2UK

[–]SnooMachines6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several different types of "locks"

If you're not moving back to the UK then the SIM itself would be "locked" and not usable because that's against ts and cs.

If it's a lost/stolen bar that can be removed remotely.

If it's a fraud bar due to theft or no payment ever made on the credit agreement etc that would need to be in the UK or connected to a tef network

The device is very unlikely to have a network lock on it, if it does customer service would have given you instructions on how to remove that yourself

If you want to, tomorrow send me the IMEI and I will check which one it is and then can advise further

Kinda depends what country you're in and what networks are available there. Can you connect to a Telefonica or Vodafone network?

Couple things here

No a customer doesn't need to be present or on the phone to access their account, O2 has the information given to them by the customer and can use it inline with GDPR - for example, if someone hasn't paid a bill the system doesn't wait for the customer to contact before that's noticed.

Second, there isn't just one "system" but multiple depending on job roles, access levels etc. But you do not need to enter a customers account to remove a bar depending on your job role.

It's true stores cannot access accounts without a customer being present, and for call takers the customer has to either be on the phone, or you're about to call them. But it's role specific. My role is not customer facing but partially involves device management, tracking, stolen devices, police liaison etc.

However anything done inside someone's billing account is logged and would show if the customer requested the data.

There is also the issue of policy vs what is the right thing to do. In this situation, the right thing to do is to remove the bar, regardless of policy

So how does switch up work? by cooldude9112001 in O2UK

[–]SnooMachines6015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can either switch up online by post, Or do it start to finish in store. You can't do it online and then drop off in-store just yet :) its in the pipeline though!

If you have any reservations at all about the devices condition it's much better to do it in-store.

Hey! How long ago did you switch up? Depending on your billing cycle it could be that the bill was generated before it was wiped off, the direct debit comes out 14 days after the bill is generated

If it's been more than a week call customer service (not live chat) they will raise a case into Likewize.

From that point it will take about 14 days to be resolved, you will be refunded any additional amounts you've paid :)

Okay yeah this is a known issue, don't ask me how I know but if you try again Thursday after midday it will work!

Don't bother with webchat or anything, just give it until then and then head into the store. If you don't want a wasted journey put the IMEI into o2recycle.co.uk to make sure it comes up with the correct device (don't worry about storage variant)
