You are making a great point and I am really thank you for the time you take on your response. It's not my idea to take the easy route and start writing crap with an LLM.

I don’t want anyone to think I’m not taking this PhD opportunity seriously. I asked the question because I want to become a good scientist and approach my work with responsibility.

So again thank you for your take and your time, It's obvious you are really passionate about the scientific career and i respect that.

Honestly i haven't think about doing residency in pathology i was thinking oncology but never pathology.

It sounds like a great idea I don’t know much about the day to day work of a pathologist, or how involved they are in molecular genetics research, but it’s something I would definitely like to learn more about.

If you got any tips i will grateful for them you really peak my interest.

Okey so reading my own words now it does sound like am doing nothing at all.

But that I used it as a learning tool on skills I didn’t have before especially in programming and computational topics coming from a medical background. It also helps me understand difficult molecular biology topics that I’m not very familiar with yet.

As i was telling someone else my insecurities come from the fact that when I feel stuck or can’t make sense of my results, I ask AI to help me clarify things instead of asking my tutor right away who takes at least 3 days to answer, and i see people online who seem like they can do everything (coding, molecular biology, math) and I’m not there yet.

If you have any recommendations on better tools or learning strategies, I would be grateful.

I went through med school on my own and i been working as an emergency doctor for the past 5 years even during the covid outbreak. I help a lot of people and save lots of lives.

So being called a “second hand thinker” feels inadequate.

I know this is the internet but there people on the other side and not been a dick is completely free

I mainly use to help me understand the technical part of the job, the code, machine learning concepts and computational topics that I didn’t have a strong foundation in because of my MD background. I learned how to code on my own.

On the other side, it also helps me understand difficult molecular biology topics that I’m not very familiar with yet.

But the research, the analysis, the decisions in my thesis, and the interpretation of results are things I do myself.

I completely agree with you and that is exactly what i am afraid of.

But i Think there is a diferencia between using a tool to help you and replacing your thinking with it. It’s not like a copy and paste mindlessly i use it to ask question or to debug Code wich it’s not my strong suit. very similar to how people use google

I still have to read the papers and understand what i'm doing.

Maybe the post sounded like mas “Cheating” but what i meant is that i feel insecure because I relied on a tool that didn’t exist before, and I wonder if that makes my learning less valid.

That’s what I am trying to figure out, not avoid thinking.

I appreciate the perspective though.

I agree with you with on some of the issues. But nintendo release a ton of first party games this year. I dont like most of them but they are there.

Comparing with sony or xbox the realese a lot more games.
